Ashley saw someone approaching and glanced over, meeting Tanya’s gaze. Tanya’s smile vanished; her eyes turned cold. She looked away, smiling at

Tim again.

But Tim smiled at Ashley. This is Tanya Mond. Ashley, do you want to meet her?”

Tim’s words had three meanings: he was close to Ashley; he knew about their conflict; and he was siding with Ashley.

Tanya didn’t know Tim and Ashley were so close, but she understood his message.

She said coldly, Does that mean I’m fired?”

Tim clapped.”You’re smart.”

He could have been more tactful, but he wasn’t. He showed Tanya there was no room for negotiation; he chose Ashley.

Tanya wasn’t embarrassed or humiliated. Eternal was good, but not comparable to Sterling Corp; Tim wasn’t important enough to humiliate her. She left calmly.

Ashley smiled warmly, but then she noticed Chase, Zark, and Ethan were all looking at her. Ethan and Zark showed surprise. Chase’s expression was blank, as if she was a stranger.

Tim asked, “What’s wrong?”

Ashley shook her head, smiling.”Nothing.”

They stopped looking at Ashley when Tanya returned. Ashley continued talking to Professor Louis.

After Profess Louis left, Ashley took a sip of her drink and saw Ethan looking at her with amusement. Chase had his back to her.

Ethan raised his glass. She frowned, not understanding.

He seemed to scoff before looking away.

Ashley understood-he felt she and Tim had bullied Tanya, and he was warning her that it wasn’t over.

The host returned and spoke to them.”You know Miss Mond?”

Tim smiled. “Yes. Problems?”

I hear that her family is doing well there, but here, they’re nothing. Especially compared to the big families.”

“So?”

“It should have been hard for them to get into our circle. But she easily got into the high society and was really close to the rich. It’s impressive.”

“No wonder Chase and his friends came to my banquet. He was introducing her to everyone. He must be serious. He wouldn’t do this for someone unimportant. With Chase’s help, her family will soar.”

Tim and Ashley remained silent. The host sighed.”Her family is really lucky. It’s enviable.”

Ashley looked up; Chase and his group had left. Chase hadn’t given her a single glance.

Half an hour later, Ashley and Tim left. When she got home, her phone rang. It was Chase. He wanted to confront her about bullying Tanya? Ethan’s warning came to her mind.

She answered calmly, “Hello.”

Chase coldly said, “Come back.”

Ashley felt no need to return.”Why?”

“Sam has a fever and wants to see you.” He hung up.

Ashley grabbed her keys and went out. As she arrived, she went straight to Sam’s room. Sam had a high fever and was on an IV. He weakly

called, “Mommy,” reaching for her. Ashley noticed the needle and hugged him. She asked the butler, Did he eat?”

“He vomited after eating.”
