You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 600

“Your wife is seriously impressive. I can’t believe she actually pulled this off.”

“What happened?” Oliver slowly sat up, elbows resting on his knees as he rubbed his brow, still waking up.

“She got Emerson to confess and turn himself in! The news is everywhere. First the Newtons, then the Martins—she took down both families, just like that. And it hasn’t even been two years. Oliver, you married a force of nature.”

No company falls apart overnight. The fact that Patricia could topple two powerful families and their businesses in such a short time meant she was something else—tough when she had to be, and absolutely unshakeable inside.

Oliver hadn’t even checked the news yet. He’d spent the whole night on the couch, keeping watch, barely sleeping. He still felt half out of it.

He hit speaker on his phone and searched for Emerson’s name in the news.

It was all over the trending topics—thousands of comments, most of them brutal.

People were piling on, calling Emerson every name in the book.

“I looked into it—Ben’s daughter Nina leaked the story. She’s a legend! Used to be the other woman, now she’s on your wife’s side. With skills like that, Patricia can handle anything.”

“Thank God Theo’s gone. If he were still in Riverdale, this would have given him a heart attack.”

Hector was eating up every second of the drama.

Oliver left the call on speaker while scrolling through the news, even boosting a few trending tags to keep the story in the spotlight.

Instead of getting into Hector’s gloating, Oliver just said, “Patricia’s just taken over. She’s going to run into all kinds of trouble. Help her out when you can.”

Hector snorted, pretending to be annoyed. “She’s your wife, not mine. Why should I get involved?”

“I’ll give you a raise.”

“How much?”

“Two million.”

Oliver nodded. “She did, but she had to go back. Riverdale needs her.”

“Work’s important. I heard you mention the company on the phone?”

Oliver gave him the short version—how Emerson killed Jason, how Patricia spent years holding back, finally cleared her father’s name, and got the company back. He left out the details that didn’t matter.

The old man’s eyes shone with a hint of pride. “She’s got real talent.”

They chatted for a bit before doctors started filing in to run their checks and ask questions. Before they were even done, the Padilla family showed up, filling the room in quiet, orderly waves.

There were a lot of people, but no one made a scene.

The Padillas always believed in letting the professionals handle things. They had their own way of doing things too—the closest to the bed were sons and daughters-in-law, then grandchildren, then everyone else. No one tried to steal the spotlight.

While the doctors were still working, Oliver’s phone started buzzing again. He glanced at the caller ID, then looked back at his grandfather.
