You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 614

Tension was thick in the air, ready to ignite.

Before Tina could explode, Patricia gave a small nod. “Let’s do introductions.”

Ignoring the murderous glare Tina sent her way, the assistant took a shaky breath and spoke up. “This is Moss, our new sales director, and Colby, our new executive assistant. They both have experience at major international companies in the same roles, graduated from top schools, and have solid references.”

Patricia exchanged a few quick pleasantries with the newcomers, then turned to Jackson. “Jackson, show them around and help them get settled.”

Jackson hesitated, casting a wary glance at Tina. Patricia just nodded at him, signaling him to go.

The second the office door shut, Tina snapped. She turned around and slapped the assistant hard across the face. “Mr. Lawrence isn’t even out the door and you’re already bringing in his replacements?”

The assistant stood there in shock, clutching her cheek, eyes welling with tears.

Patricia just spun her pen between her fingers, looking on like she was watching a show.

She couldn’t help herself, egging things on. “Ms. Klotz, work is work. Why are you resorting to violence? This is a country of laws, you know. Ever heard of human rights?”

Tina was shaking with anger, struggling to catch her breath. She realized she had crossed a line, so she took a deep breath, forced herself to calm down, and muttered through gritted teeth, “I’m sorry. I’ll make it right.”

Patricia’s smile was all satisfaction. “Glad to hear it. I’ve got work to do, so Ms. Klotz, please handle this outside.”

As soon as the door closed, Patricia picked up her phone and dialed. Her voice was crisp and cold. “I don’t care how you do it. Get the HR assistant to call the police.”

In the elevator, the assistant pressed her hand to her stinging cheek, eyes red and glassy as she rode down in silence.

The elevator stopped at the twelfth floor. Someone else got in.
