You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 650

“Who was she just talking about?”

“Mr. Padilla from Pacific Capital?”

“What’s the deal between Mr. Padilla and Patricia?”

As soon as Patricia walked out, the conference room erupted in hushed conversations.

Everyone in Riverdale knew Pacific Capital was a force to be reckoned with. For someone as powerful as Oliver Padilla to show up at Martin Group—and for Patricia, of all people—what was going on between them?

If Martin Group could count Pacific Capital as a backer, their future would be set. The possibilities were endless, and everyone knew it.

People’s minds raced, each imagining what this could mean for the company—and for themselves.

Only Curtis looked completely unbothered.

He’d known for a while that Patricia had some kind of connection with Pacific Capital. He always guessed it might be Hector. He never expected it to be Oliver.

Mitch scanned the room, looking over everyone before landing his attention on Curtis. “Mr. Meraz? You’re taking this all pretty calmly.”

Curtis snapped back to the present and grinned. “Calm? I’m just as floored as the rest of you.”

Mitch and Ann had always backed Emerson and Tina, no question. Now that Patricia’s connection to Pacific Capital was out in the open, it definitely threw a wrench in their plans.

But everyone here was a veteran. After decades in investment, they’d seen it all.

“I figured Curtis already knew about Patricia and Pacific Capital,” Mitch said, voice dripping with implication. Curtis had always been the neutral one, never drawing attention, until Patricia took charge. Then he’d suddenly become her biggest supporter.

Meanwhile, Patricia hurried into her office, shutting the door behind her. Before she could even catch her breath, someone slipped their arms around her from behind, pulling her into a warm, solid embrace.

The heat of his body pressed close. She spun around, startled, heart pounding, only to find Oliver’s familiar face. “What are you doing here?”

“Marian said you left in such a rush this morning you didn’t even eat breakfast. She asked me to bring it to you.”

Patricia followed his gaze to the coffee table—sure enough, there was a breakfast box waiting.

“You could have just asked Aiden to grab it for me. You didn’t have to come all the way here yourself.”

Oliver’s hands slid around her waist, turning her gently to face him. “It’s no big deal. You left so fast, I was worried. I just needed to see for myself that you were okay.”

Patricia had barely had a moment to breathe all morning. The second she’d gotten the call, she’d thrown on her coat and rushed out, while Oliver was still working out downstairs. She didn’t even say goodbye, just ran out the door, answering Colby’s calls on the way, barely glancing at her messages before getting swept straight into the meeting.
