You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 651

Patricia turned around and wrapped her arms around him, nuzzling her head under his chin, soft as a kitten. “Sorry for making you worry.”

“Do you want to eat something first?”

“There are still people in the conference room.”

Oliver’s brow creased, worry plain on his face. “How much longer will you be?”

Patricia shook her head, just a little. “Hard to say. Maybe you should go back first?”

“I’m not leaving until I see you finish breakfast.” He meant it, and Patricia knew he could be just as stubborn as she was. Ever since joining Martin Group, she’d thrown herself into work like it was life or death—sometimes too much. Company problems consumed her, and if Colby hadn’t shown up, Oliver might never have realized that skipping meals was just a part of her routine here.

No matter how well he took care of her at home, it could never make up for how little she cared for herself at work.

Patricia’s eyes clouded for a second.

A knock sounded. Colby’s voice came from the hall. “Mr. Martin, things are getting heated in the conference room.”

“Okay.”

Patricia glanced up at Oliver, catching his gaze. “Should I go check on them?”

She was really asking what he thought. Even now, she cared about how he felt—especially since he’d come all this way just for her. The least she could do was not ignore him.

He nodded. “Go on.”

The second Patricia stepped into the conference room, she heard Tina’s voice, tight with anger. “So what’s Mr. Meraz getting at? He expects me to guarantee numbers now?”

The meeting was a mess, voices overlapping, words sharp enough to cut. Nobody was shouting obscenities, but the way they talked hurt all the same.

Patricia stood there, unmoving, solid as a rock.

She waited until the noise faded before finally reaching out and pushing open the door.

Everyone turned to look at her. Her steady, confident expression was nothing like the tension hanging in the air.

“Sorry for the delay.” Her voice was even, clear. “Right now, the priority is for Ms. Klotz to hold a press conference. We need to get ahead of the rumors Wendy’s spreading.”

There was always someone willing to fight when their own interests were at stake.

But what Patricia really wanted was to help Tina save face.
