You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 670

Oliver’s eyes went straight past the crowd and locked onto Patricia. In that moment, every curious glance and whisper faded away. It was obvious—he was here for her, and only her. It felt like he’d crossed oceans just to stand by her side.

He stopped right in front of her and held out his arm. Without missing a beat, Patricia slipped her hand through the crook of his elbow. The two of them walked deeper into the ballroom together, arm in arm, while the room fell into stunned silence. All around them, people stared, barely daring to breathe.

Doubt flickered in everyone’s eyes. Just a minute ago, some had been mocking Patricia behind her back. Now, all they could do was watch her in shock.

Up onstage, a woman delivered her speech, her voice soft and smooth, floating over the audience like a feather and sending chills down their spines.

“Mr. McKee, what’s the story with Mr. Padilla and Mr. Martin?” someone finally asked Hector, trying to sound casual but failing.

Hector just raised an eyebrow and chuckled. “Let’s put it this way—when it comes to those two, I make sure I’m on my best behavior. What do you think?”

He didn’t say anything more, leaving everyone to wonder and worry, their imaginations running wild.

Patricia stepped down from the stage, and Oliver was already waiting for her.

With Oliver and Hector in the room, the energy skyrocketed. Pacific Capital was legendary in the business world—most people could only dream of getting past their front gate.

Hector was already a big deal, but Oliver was something else entirely.

For years, he’d been more myth than man—the Padilla family’s youngest, the crown prince of Golden Bay, the one everyone wanted to meet but almost nobody ever did.

And now, here he was.

“You just can’t help yourself, can you? Always sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong.”

When no one was watching, Patricia and Tina would have happily gone at each other with knives. There was no such thing as civility between them.

“Patricia, is it even possible for you to live without a man? First Theo, now Oliver—how many beds have you had to climb to get where you are?”

“Oh, plenty,” Patricia answered, not missing a beat. She even tilted her head thoughtfully. “Too bad you’re getting old, Aunt Tina. If you still had it, maybe I’d send a few powerful men your way too. I bet you’re jealous, huh? I can still use my looks to get what I want, but you? You’re all alone now. Back when Uncle Emerson was around, at least you had someone on your side. Now he’s gone, and you look like you’re about to fall apart too.”

She grinned. “Barely holding your own life together, and you still have the energy to throw shade at me. Aunt Tina, your dedication is honestly impressive.”
