“Patricia, beauty fades and so does love. How long do you really think you can hold on?”
Patricia just shrugged, smoothing out her dress as if she didn’t have a care in the world. When she looked up, her eyes sparkled with a sly confidence. “Honestly? Doesn’t matter. Aunt Tina, you’ll never see the day I lose my edge.”
She leaned in, her voice dropping to a playful whisper. “Aunt Tina, aren’t you even a little scared? Usually, when the main culprit confesses, the accomplice is the first to bolt. But here you are, still hanging around Riverdale. That much faith in Uncle Emerson, huh?”
“If I were you, I’d have gotten out of here ages ago.”
“No one escapes forever.”
“Karma and the truth—they always catch up.”
She shook her head, pretending to be disappointed. “Such a shame, really…”
Tina stiffened, her nerves showing as she eyed Patricia warily. “What are you talking about?”
Patricia grinned, her smile bright and completely unbothered. “Oh, just talking nonsense. Don’t mind me.”
She really was stunning. That easy smile, the way her lips curled up—she practically made the whole room fade behind her. She had the kind of beauty that was almost unfair, taking all the best from her parents and turning it into something unforgettable.
“Excuse me, Aunt Patricia, coming through?” A passing waiter tried to squeeze by.
Tina ignored him, her voice cold. “If your parents could see you now, Patricia, do you even realize how much it would break their hearts?”
Just like that, Patricia’s smile disappeared. Her face went still, her eyes suddenly sharp and icy.
For a moment, Patricia felt a surge of anger, so strong it almost scared her. Her fingers twitched at her side, ready to lash out, but she stopped herself just in time.
No, not now. She couldn’t lose control. She needed to wait. After all, Tina wouldn’t be walking out of here tonight anyway.
What was the point?
She glanced down. Jackson: On my way.

“This is so typical. Every time, it’s a whole production. You’d think the chief could at least pretend it’s not all planned out,” a detective grumbled as he left the station, arrest warrant in hand.
He hadn’t even reached the car before he started complaining. “I just tracked Tina’s phone—she’s at that riverside ballroom tonight. Who knows who’s there? Probably half the city’s elite. And we’re supposed to go arrest her now? Couldn’t be more obvious if we tried.”
Brandon kept quiet.
He knew exactly who was behind all of this.
Sudden business trips, even more sudden returns? Please. This was Patricia’s show, her timing, her plan. She wanted Tina taken down in front of everyone, right at the perfect moment.
