“Still can’t find a job? If not, that’s okay. Just take a break for a while.”
Kent let out a heavy sigh. This wasn’t about taking it easy.
He’d been successful for so long, it was hard to accept being just average now.
And when it came to Patricia teaming up with Hector to set him up, he just couldn’t let it go.
He was in his forties, and a young woman had managed to outmaneuver him like this—how could he not be angry?
“I heard Amelia from your old HR department landed a job at a tech company. Maybe you could reach out and see if she knows of any openings?”
Kent paused, surprised, and looked up. “Which company?”
He had resigned on his own, but Amelia had been fired.
Now even someone who’d been let go was working again, while he was still stuck at home. That stung a bit.
His wife stood by the sofa, thinking for a moment. “I think it’s called LinYun Tech?”
“I saw her post about it on social media.”
Kent didn’t call right away. Instead, he picked up his phone and searched for LinYun Tech.
The moment he saw the parent company, his hands tightened around his phone in anger.
When did Amelia become one of Patricia’s people?
LinYun Tech was owned by Pacific Capital.
If Amelia got in, it had to be because Patricia recommended her.
No way a booming tech company would hire a fired HR manager otherwise.
Fine. If Patricia wanted to play tough, he could do the same.
“I’m heading out. Don’t wait for me at dinner,” he said, grabbing his jacket.
“Where are you going?” his wife called after him, hurrying a few steps but failing to catch up.
She watched him leave, worry written all over her face.
