You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 722

“And here’s a tip for you,” Jackson said with a grin. “My Miss believes everything should be put to good use.”

He was spot on. Jackson always seemed to get Patricia.

She didn’t want the bag—first, because it was from Ann. Second, because Oliver was always buying her luxury stuff, and her closet was already overflowing. Bringing another one home would just be a waste. If she tried giving it to Sara or Chelsea, Oliver might start asking questions, and then she’d have to come up with some excuse.

Still, Colby took the bag, nervous but grateful.

The next morning, she brought it into work. Jackson’s advice echoed in her head—Patricia liked to see things used, not wasted.

Later that day, when she and Patricia were heading out, they’d just gotten into the car when Patricia’s eyes landed on the bag. She smiled. “That really suits you, you know. Looks perfect with your style.”

Colby felt a rush of happiness and surprise. She couldn’t help but add another mental note about Jackson—he wasn’t just lucky, he was practically magic. With him on her side, how could she not win Patricia’s favor?

Friday finally rolled around.

When Patricia got home after work, Oliver was standing by the window, talking on the phone. She handed her bag to Marian, then went straight to the powder room on the first floor. As she was rubbing soap between her hands, she saw Oliver’s reflection appear in the doorway.

“Done with work?” she asked, her voice gentle.

“Yeah.”

“Did you look into Ann’s son, like I asked?”

Her soft tone seemed to hit him right in the heart. Oliver remembered how she’d turned him down last night, and his eyes darkened with something warm and possessive. He stepped into the powder room, quietly closed the door, and slipped his arms around her from behind.

“The Jenkins family?” Patricia turned slightly, her temple brushing his lips and sending a shiver down her spine.

Oliver’s eyes met hers in the mirror, focusing on her tense jaw. He let out a low, amused laugh. “You really are worried I’ll eat you alive.”

“I just want to talk about business. You only ever think about eating me up.”

“We could always multitask, you know. Talk while I eat.”

Patricia shot him a sharp look. “Don’t even think about it.”

Oliver just grinned, his voice dropping low. “Guess that means you don’t want to know what happened with Ann, then.”
