You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 742

“I’m here to pick you up.”

Oliver had just pulled up when Patricia stepped out of the elevator. The black Bentley was waiting right by the doors.

Patricia slid into the back seat and immediately raised the privacy partition.

“Are you upset about something? Did something happen?”

“No.”

Oliver reached over and took her hand, his fingers wrapping around hers as if he was trying to steady his own nerves. The touch didn’t help much. Instead, he pulled her onto his lap, holding her close.

He leaned in, burying his face in her shoulder and nuzzling against her, breathing in the scent he knew so well. Only then did he feel a little calmer.

His nose brushed her neck, making her squirm a little. She shifted just enough to miss the brief pain that flickered in Oliver’s eyes.

“After we finish sorting out things with Ruby, I want to bring Grandma back. Uncle and Aunt are moving back to Riverdale, too. It’d be nice to have everyone closer together.”

Oliver nodded. He always liked listening to Patricia talk about family stuff. It made everything feel a little more real, like they were actually building a life together. “Whatever you want. If everyone moves back, will Chelsea’s house be big enough?”

“I don’t think so. And it’s kind of late to start looking for a new place now.”

“Cloud Peak is really spacious,” Mr. Padilla said.

“Grandma could stay at Cloud Peak, but if Uncle wants to go into politics, it might not be the best idea. And Grandma would want to stay with him anyway.”

Patricia sounded frustrated. She knew she should have thought about this earlier, but she’d been so focused on getting revenge that she hadn’t planned for anything else.

“There’s that furnished villa near the city offices in the west district. It’s empty right now. Grandma and your uncle’s family could move in, and it’s close to his work. It’s not far for us to visit, either.”

“Are you sure that’s okay?”

After a while, she asked, “You haven’t seemed like yourself these last couple of days. Is something wrong?”

“No,” Oliver said, gently rubbing her hand with his thumb.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah. I promise.”

Patricia looped her arms around his neck and nuzzled closer. “Let’s just go home, then. If we’re moving them into the villa, we’ll have to look at new furniture anyway.”

“You don’t want to go today?”

“I think we should get a designer. Aunt Maggie is super picky about everything, from the sofa to the bed. I don’t think I can handle it on my own.”
