Ruby had just started to stand up, but her movement slowed, then stopped. After a few seconds, she quietly sat back down.
Behind her, the gossip kept going. “Right? I really thought she and Ruby were best friends. Every time we trashed Ruby, she was the only one who stuck up for her. But now, look at how things turned out…”
“That’s why I say, we’re all adults. Who actually does something nice if there’s nothing in it for them?”
“Wendy seems so sweet, like some innocent flower, but look at her now.”
“Wendy and Ruby are just a repeat of how Ruby and Patricia used to be. Same story, just different names. They’re all the same, honestly. Karma’s real, huh? Sooner or later, everyone gets what’s coming.”
Someone let out a sarcastic laugh. “Hey, did you hear Patricia got married again? I heard her new husband’s background is insane.”
“It’s not Hector, right?”
“Hector isn’t even close to the top. If it’s really next-level, it has to be Mr. Padilla from Pacific Capital.”
As soon as Mr. Padilla’s name came up, everyone went quiet.
Oliver, the third son of the Golden Bay family, was part of the top decision-makers. People like them couldn’t just talk about him like he was anyone else.
“Could it all be a rumor? If Patricia actually married Oliver, why would she go through all this trouble for revenge? She could take down Emerson with a single word.”
“Maybe she just likes dragging things out, making her enemies suffer.”
A man started to say something, then stopped. To be fair, Patricia did seem like that kind of person.
Someone sighed. “Why are we all speculating? Why not just ask Bella? Isn’t she in Golden Bay planning her wedding right now?”
