You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 848

A cool breeze drifted through the night, carrying just enough chill to mess up Patricia’s hair. She turned her head, fingers brushing the loose strands back into place.

When she glanced up, she saw Jimmy standing by the door, watching everything unfold with this amused little smile. He didn’t move, just leaned there, like he was completely uninvolved and had zero plans to step in.

He made it pretty clear—whatever happened next was up to her.

Grace was shivering as she dragged herself out of the pool, clutching the edge and shaking so hard her teeth were probably chattering. Jimmy caught sight of her, shot Patricia a quick thumbs-up, and then just turned around and shut the main door behind him.

He actually closed it. Like, for real.

If Patricia still didn’t get the message, she’d have to be an idiot.

She pulled her coat tighter, let out a deep breath, and patted Jackson on the shoulder, nodding toward Grace. “Go deal with her.”

“Make sure she’s too scared to even look at me next time. Just don’t go overboard.”

“Don’t worry, Miss, I’m a pro.”

Patricia didn’t even blink, just found a spot out of the wind and stood there, face unreadable. “Good luck.”

It was freezing and she definitely wasn’t about to get sick for any of this.

By the time Grace made it to the hospital, she was barely hanging on.

There wasn’t even time for an ambulance—Roger just drove her straight there.

On the way, Grace wouldn’t stop yelling about calling the police. Roger didn’t say a word. When the doctors saw how bad she was and called the cops themselves, Grace insisted she’d been attacked.

But as soon as she mentioned the Padilla estate, the officers shot each other these uncomfortable looks.

All that silent back-and-forth made Grace feel even worse.

It wasn’t until her husband Aaron showed up and called Lydia for answers that things moved forward. Lydia claimed she didn’t know anything. She said she’d been home the whole time, hadn’t noticed a thing, but if they wanted, they could check the security footage.

Would Aaron really go that far?
