“Sometime in the next few days.”
Jackson didn’t really know the exact date either.
“Do you want to eat out, or should we just order something when we get home?”
Jackson shrugged. “I’m good with whatever.”
That afternoon, Chelsea picked a Sichuan place. She parked under the mall, and she and Jackson took the elevator up to the second floor, grabbing a table by the window.
Once they’d ordered, Chelsea leaned her chin on her hand and started chatting about gossip with Jackson.
Her eyes drifted around the room, and she caught a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye.
Hector stood by the entrance in casual clothes, hair a little messy, looking like he’d just finished a game of basketball.
Jackson followed her gaze, then let out a laugh. “Hey, isn’t that your hook-up?”
Chelsea shot him a look. “Watch it.”
Did he even realize how hard it was to find a decent friend with benefits these days? If Hector overheard something stupid and decided to cut her off, she’d be seriously upset.
She quickly put on a bright smile and waved. “Mr. McKee, what a coincidence!”
Hector gave a short laugh. Coincidence? Sure.
He walked over, eyes flicking to Jackson. “You said you had plans. Was this your plan? Lunch with Jackson?”
Chelsea took a second to catch up. “Oh, um… yeah. I picked him up from the airport and then we decided to get lunch.”
“Want to join us?” she offered.
Hector’s eyes lingered on her. Earlier, she’d left the house in a black turtleneck, hair loose. Now she was in a V-neck sweater, her hair up in a messy bun, her pale neck exposed.
She looked gorgeous. That soft skin made him want to bite her.
Next time. Next time, he was definitely going to leave a mark.
“No, you two go ahead.”
