You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 882

What goes around comes around. Patricia used to worry Chelsea would lose out in this strange relationship, but now, honestly, who was really getting the short end of the stick?

Hector thought his whole “I’ll never get married” thing would scare Chelsea off. Turns out, she was way more chill about it than he expected. Not only did she accept his terms, she actually seemed to enjoy finding loopholes and making the whole thing work for her. She could go on blind dates, hook up with Hector when she felt like it, enjoy herself during the lonely spells, and as soon as she was sure she wasn’t pregnant, she could cut things off and go play the role of the perfect wife back home.

After Atticus came back to Riverdale and took over as a local big shot, Chelsea’s status as the mayor’s daughter made her a total magnet for attention. Guys lined up for a shot with her, hoping to catch her eye. If she didn’t spend all her time buried in the lab, barely coming up for air, she’d probably be out there breaking hearts left and right.

Hector always thought he’d stay free and easy forever. Never thought he’d get tripped up by someone like Chelsea. How could he not be pissed? She’d brush him off all the time, acting busy. He really thought she was tied up with work. Then he finds out… she’s busy going on dates?

A heavy banging rattled Chelsea’s apartment door. She’d just dropped her dog off, tossed her jacket on the couch, and was about to hop in the shower with nothing but a camisole on when the noise froze her in her tracks. She turned to glare at the door.

Have they never heard of a doorbell? Why are they trying to break my door down?

“Who is it?”

She yanked the door open. The second she saw who was standing there, her first instinct was to slam it right back in his face.

But Hector was faster. He shoved his hand against the door, stopping her cold.

“Chelsea.”

She blinked, annoyed. “Seriously? How did you even get up here? I never gave you elevator access.”

Hector looked furious. His eyes were practically on fire. Chelsea’s gaze drifted to the sweat running down his temples and it clicked. “Wait… did you take the stairs?”

The fire escape here was weird, with odd and even floors not connecting. If Hector wanted to reach her place, he couldn’t just hop down from his own floor. He’d have had to go all the way to the ground and climb up, step by step.
