You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 890

“Where did you get all that money? Did you win the lottery or something?” Jackson eyed her up and down, like he was checking if she’d grown an extra head. He clearly didn’t believe a word of it.

Chelsea wasn’t exactly broke, but she was nowhere near rich either. Maggie kept her on a tight budget, probably because she’d seen too many rich kids go off the rails with too much cash. Chelsea’s allowance was just enough for a comfortable life, but not enough to get into trouble.

“Don’t worry about it,” Chelsea said, brushing him off.

Jackson wouldn’t let it go. “You didn’t rob a bank, did you? Trying to make me your partner in crime?”

“Oh, come on. It’s legit. Are you in or not?”

Jackson made a show of thinking it over, clicking his tongue. “I could be… but if Hector finds out, I’m a dead man.”

Chelsea clenched her jaw. “Fine. I’ll add another half a million.”

Jackson gave her a look. “What, are you calling me a fool?”

“So tell me, how much do you want?” She could see right through him. This was all just haggling.

Jackson just lifted three fingers, slow and silent.

“Three million?” Chelsea almost shouted. “Why don’t you just rob a bank yourself?”

“Robbing a bank is illegal.”

“But robbing me isn’t?”
