You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 893

She cared about looking good, but fear was always there too. Just because she’d been through more didn’t mean she was any better at accepting her body’s changes after pregnancy. She couldn’t do it, and honestly, she didn’t push herself to try. She’d even thought about what she’d do if her body didn’t bounce back—maybe some cosmetic treatments down the line.

Of course, she never told Oliver any of this. He was way too sensitive, picking up on every little feeling she had, and she didn’t want him to worry.

Patricia reached for the bottle of oil in his hand. “I can handle this myself. You go.”

Oliver glanced at her round belly, concern in his eyes. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

“I’m sure. If something comes up, I’ll call you.”

“Alright then.”

Downstairs, Hector stood in front of the big window looking out to the backyard. Two chubby stray cats were rolling around on the grass, clearly living the good life.

“What brings you here?” Oliver asked.

“You let Chelsea join the company?” Hector didn’t waste any time, just turned and said it.

Oliver answered straight up. “No.” Then he called for Johns to bring him a hot towel, his hands still smelling sweet from Patricia’s fruity shampoo.

“Would the R&D department really give them office space without your say-so?”

“Oh, that,” Oliver said, wiping his hands like he finally got what Hector was talking about. “Chelsea reached out. She said her team finished the first phase of their project and needed to run real tests to iron out the bugs. Sounds reasonable, right? I can’t just tell them to work out on the street.”
