You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 920

The bedroom was quiet and warm.

After her shower, Patricia lounged on the chaise, her feet soaking in a basin of steaming water. Oliver knelt in front of her, gently pressing a hot towel to her calves. She propped herself up, watching him, her eyes steady and silent. He could feel her gaze, but she didn’t say a word. That made him a little nervous.

He broke the silence, his voice careful. “If you want me to stay out of Hector and Chelsea’s mess, I’ll stay out of it.”

“Mm.” Her answer was soft, almost distracted.

Oliver noticed she wasn’t herself and couldn’t help worrying. “How’s Chelsea holding up?”

“She’s been locked away.”

His hands stilled for a moment. “Hector’s been detained, too. He won’t be causing any drama for a while. Did you try to convince your uncle to let her go?”

“I did. It didn’t work.”

He tried to reassure her. “Don’t stress too much. They’re both adults. You can’t force these things. If they’re really meant to be together, nothing can keep them apart. Sometimes, it’s best to just let them figure it out.”

“Mm.” She didn’t sound any better.

When she finished soaking her feet, she reached for some essential oil, planning to massage her legs. Oliver took it from her, his touch gentle. “Let me do it.”

“We have your prenatal appointment in the morning. Let’s try to get some sleep tonight.”

She changed the subject, her tone suddenly curious. “How did you meet my uncle?”

Oliver was caught off guard and blinked, needing a second to catch up. “Why ask that out of the blue?”

“I’m just curious.”
