You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 929

He felt a wave of relief. Thank goodness it wasn’t Patricia. But it was still hard to accept. No matter how high you climb in life, nobody gets to escape the pain of losing loved ones.

“You go ahead. Your aunt and I will head to Cloud Peak right now.”

“We’ll bring Grandma up in the morning.”

“I’ll wait for you to get here before I leave.”

He couldn’t relax until everything was handed over properly.

“Okay.”

Patricia was still fast asleep when the family finished sorting things out. Oliver was in such a rush that he didn’t wake her up to explain anything.

It wasn’t until the next morning, when Patricia stumbled out of bed half-asleep to use the bathroom, that she noticed a woman sleeping next to her. The shock made her heart jump.

She took a few steady breaths, then carefully lifted the blanket to peek. When she realized it was just Chelsea, she let out a huge sigh of relief.

Chelsea rolled over, her voice muffled and lazy, eyes barely open. “Wow, you look kind of disappointed it’s just me.”

Patricia raised an eyebrow. “Why are you here? When did you show up?”

“Last night. Three in the morning, actually. Atticus dragged me out of bed and dumped me here.”

Patricia blinked. “What? Why would he do that? Did you get in trouble again?”

Chelsea stretched, propping herself up on one elbow and giving Patricia a look. “We’re sisters. Is that seriously the first thing you think of?”

Patricia tried to think of any other reason, but nothing came to mind. As she was about to head to the bathroom, something clicked in her mind. Oliver was obsessed with cleanliness. He’d never let someone else sleep in his bed unless he was the one who said it was okay. If Chelsea was there, that meant Oliver wasn’t. Maybe even Sara wasn’t.

A wave of dread swept over her. She turned back, her voice a little shaky. “Did something happen with the Padilla family?”

Chelsea nodded slowly. “Yeah. My dad said the old man passed away last night.”

“Oliver had to rush back to Golden Bay. He was worried you might go into labor, so he had everyone come up here. Jackson should be picking up Grandma right about now.”
