Tyson pushed her hand away, but she just laughed and pressed closer.
“I just got my heart broken too. Us meeting here tonight must be fate. Why don't we… let two broken hearts mend each other for a night?”
Tyson chuckled. “And how do you propose we do that?”
“What do you think?” the woman whispered, her lips brushing against his ear. “There's only one way a man and a woman can do that.”
“Forget it,” Tyson mumbled, trying to push her away again, but she clung to him.
He looked her over. She was beautiful, her body was phenomenal, and the alcohol was clouding his judgment. A flicker of desire stirred within him.
The woman saw it and smiled triumphantly. “See? You want it too. Come on, handsome. I know a great little hotel just around the corner…”
A smirk played on Tyson's lips. He wrapped an arm around her slim waist and let her lead him toward the exit.
But as they neared the door, two men suddenly blocked their path.
“Stop.”
Annoyed, Tyson snapped, “Get out of my way!”
“You heard him. Move it! Who do you think you are, blocking our way?” the woman added, her voice sharp.
One of the men sneered. “You might not know who we are, but we know you. And we know about your… condition.”
The word “condition” made Tyson flinch. He immediately shoved the woman away.
“What? What condition?”
The woman's face soured. She shot the men a venomous look. “What are you talking about? Who asked you to butt in?”
“Who are you?”
The woman gave a quiet order to a nearby attendant before turning her smile back on him. “So, Mr. Goodwin doesn't recognize me. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jocelyn Quincy.”
At the name “Quincy,” Tyson's eyes widened in understanding. “Miss Quincy. My apologies.”
“Not at all, Mr. Goodwin. In fact, I should be the one apologizing for summoning you so abruptly. But as I was coming upstairs, I happened to see you with that woman… You should know, she's HIV-positive.”
“What? H… HIV?” Tyson broke out in a cold sweat, the last remnants of his drunken stupor vanishing in a wave of sheer terror. He had almost slept with an HIV-positive woman.
“I saw how close you two were, and I assumed you weren't aware of her condition. So I sent my men to intervene.”
A wave of relief washed over Tyson, followed by deep gratitude. If Jocelyn hadn't stopped him, he would have gone to that hotel with her. The consequences were unthinkable.
