Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 17

Ellie POV

“I woke up from a coma when I was about 7 years old. I didn’t know my name or where I was from. William told mel had been in an accident and I had banged my head, resulting in me having amnesia. He told me that my memories would eventually return. In the meantime, as L was medically stable, I had nowhere to go. I was placed in a group home. An orphanage of sorts.” I told Sam as she slurped on her milkshake. “Being the new kid, I got bullied nonstop. They made me sleep with the dogs in the kennel.

As I stunk like a dog in the morning, the kids called me’ smelly Ellie’, since I didn’t have a name. But I didn’t care, as I knew that one day my parents would come for me.” I took a deep breath. “Days turned to months, and the only memory that returned was of a pair of boys promising to take care of me. Despite the police searches, no one ever came to claim me.”

“Oh, Ellie, I’m so sorry,” Sam said sympathetically. But I don’t need it.

“I’m not. Mrs. Fletcher, the baker, used to stop by with treats and must have seen how I was treated. On the first day 1 was put up for adoption, she was there offering to take me in. She was so loving and supportive. She taught me that my strength and independence come from within.

Nothing anyone thinks or says can take that away. Not unless I let them. She knew that animals were attracted to me and called me an animal whisperer.” I smiled, and tears filled my eyes as I remembered my mom’s smile. wiped them away so I could carry on talking to Sam.

“I have always been smart, and being a bit of a loner, I did nothing but study. Which was how 1 graduated from high school early. My mom paid for me to go to college to become a vet. I may have been the youngest person on campus, but I surpassed everyone on my course. I got a placement easily, which enhanced my practical skills.”1 remembered how proud my mom was of me. Telling me that she knew I was special, I took a deep breath to stop more tears from falling.

“I never knew when my actual birthday was, so I was lucky that I was on spring break when I had my first shift,” Kiki snickers. “I was walking in the woods when I heard her voice. I thought I had gone crazy with the stress of college. I was scared and alone. But I knew I was going to survive. I had to.”

“Kiki told me I was a wolf shifter, just like my parents. She told me was special, which is why my pheromones affect animals. But now that she had arrived, the full extent of my powers had been unlocked.” I held up my wrists. “She told me my mood would affect the animals around me.

The most vicious of creatures will be calm if they inhale it.

If I’m upset, my scent changes. Something that will make animals die an awful, painful death if they inhale it.” Sam gasps.

“If you kill Zola, I will die.””I have never met a shifter before and never knew that, Y smirked. “Kiki explained to me about the mate bönd and fated mates. But she told me she was to be given one, as a mate can make you angry so easily.”

Sam looked at me sadly. “Sounds lonely.”

“Sounds safe. What if my mate and I were incompatible, and we didn’t get along? He would die. Every animal around me would as well.” I told her. She needed to know the extent of my power. “When my mom sadly passed away, I was so upset and angry.” I could feel my guilt building, so I sucked it up and put on a brave face as l confessed. “That day, there were so many animal deaths.

Everyone thought there was a pandemic. That’s why! don’t let my frustrations build up. Because if I do, and one day they become too much, innocent creatures will die.” I took a sip of my milkshake. “That is why I’m cursed.

Destined to be alone.” I snickered. “Besides, from what you have told me about pack life, I don’t think I would fit in any way. Serving an Alpha whom I may disagree with.”I snickered. “Can you imagine it? Poof, he’s dead.”

“Packs have benefits. Sadly, not mine. I wish la have known sooner,” Sam said sadly.

“It’s not a risk I could take. I could be used as a weapon.”

“I never thought of it like that,” Sam said, not thinking.

“Sam will tell you if you ask her,” was the response I got.

Kiki is not usually so mysterious, which intrigued me. The wolves didn’t play long before Zola was tired.

When we were dressing, I asked Sam, “Why did Zola kneel in front of Kiki?”

“What you don’t know. Of course you don’t. Kiki is a white wolf. Do you not know how rare they are?” I shook my head. “There are only a handful of them in the world. Each of them has something unique about them.” She paused for a second. “I should have guessed you had a white wolf, after all. You are a special person,” she told me.

That night, I took Sam to my home. It wasn’t much, but it was mine, and I wasn’t home very often as I worked seven days a week. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom.

The best part was the flower patch my mom made it and filled it with her favorite flowers, which still bloom to this day. This house was a bit big for me, but it was full of happy memories.

I offered Sam the spare room, but she didn’t want it. She said she felt safer with me around, so that night, as we climbed into bed that night, Sam was still chuntering on about Kiki being a white wolf. “Can you be quiet? This is the first time I have been in my bed since you arrived. Let me enjoy it.” I wanted to sleep naked and starfish, but there was no chance with Sam in the bed.Sam went quiet. “Thank you, Ellie. My nightmares still feel real. Knowing you’re here and being able to smell you makes me know that no one is going to hurt me.”

“Whatever it takes to keep the nightmares at bay,” I told her, feeling bad about my outburst. There was no need; she didn’t deserve it. She had been through enough.
