Caspian’s POV

Of all the words to come out of Evelyn’s mouth. I’m pregnant. Would never have been the ones I expected.

I stared at her in disbelief. She’s pregnant, and I’m the father? Hawk growled in anger. “I told you to get rid of her,” he barked at me. But I couldn’t respond to him, as l was in shock. The room started to spin, and I felt like someone had kicked me in the nuts.

Sam was everything I wanted in a mate. Sweet, innocent, kind, someone who needed my protection. Sure, the situation wasn’t great, and I was lying through my teeth to her. But hopefully, we can work through all of that. But if Evelyn is having my child, there is no chance we could work that out.

“You’re pregnant?” Reagan questioned. I turned and looked at him. The veins in his neck were bounding, and he looked disgusted.

“Oh, don’t look shocked, Caspian. All those fun-filled sex sessions we had. You never considered that this could happen?” Evelyn said cockily as she folded her arms.

“I. I.” I struggled to find the words to speak. My mouth and throat were so dry that I would have struggled even if I could find the words.

But thankfully, Reagan wasn’t as shocked as I was. “I’ve mindlinked Dr. Monroe. Our physician he will determine that you are pregnant, and when it’s safe, he’ll confirm that it’s Caspian’s child. You can wait in the hallway until he arrives,” Reagan told Evelyn coldly.

“Get anyone you want to confirm it, Reagan. Caspian knows we had a lot of unprotected sex. Actions have consequences.” Evelyn smiled at me as she walked past me. A shiver ran down my spine as I knew she was right.” l wait in my room for Dr. Monroe. I may as well get ready for my Luna ceremony.”

Reagan growled. “What Luna ceremony are you having?”

“Our child will be the legitimate heir to the throne. What will your chosen mate think about her children being crowned after mine? She won’t go through with it. With that in mind, there is only one person who should be considered as the Luna Queen. The mother of his firstborn.” She said smugly. I still couldn’t speak.

“Or maybe he waits for you to deliver the child and takes it from you,” Reagan suggested nastily.

“He either marks me, making me the Luna Queen. Or I tell everyone what a coward he is for not taking responsibility for his actions. He will lose the respect of everyone. It may even start a war. Eventually, he will be dethroned, and he will be the ruler of nothing. My child will have me as their guardian until they come of age. Then, when their wolf arrives, they will officially be crowned. All the while, I will be by their side.” Evelyn yelled at us.Reagan was right. “So, that was your plan all along?” I snapped, finally finding my ability to speak. She didn’t care about comforting me after Reagan’s death. She just wanted to get into my pants so I could get her pregnant.

How the hell was I so stupid?

“Get to your room and wait for Dr. Monroe,” Reagan snapped angrily. Evelyn laughed as she slammed the door. That evil bitch knew what she was doing the entire time. I rushed to the bin and vomited. I always wanted pups, but not with her.

A hand on my back would usually offer comfort, but my life was going to shit. “Oh, goddess Sam,” I said, spitting into the bin, then looking at Reagan. “She is going to i reject me, Reagan. No doubt about it.”

“You were so

worried about your lineage after I was presumed dead that you decided you needed an heir. You decided you didn’t want to commit to taking a mate at that time because of your grief. You wanted a breeder as you were still hopeful that one day you would find your fated mate.

Evelyn doesn’t know Sam is your fated mate, and she isthe rightful Luna Queen. That changes everything.” His grin grew. “The child will be yours, but not its mother, as she has no rights. She was, after all, chosen to be the Alpha King’s breeder. That’s it.” His words made me smile.

“That’s savage,” I told him.

“She wants to play games. Then let’s play,” he said. “Now we have work to do. Phillip, mindlink Sasha, make sure she takes good care of Sam, as we are all putting up a mental block. We need to find Ellie and get you and Sam mated. Before anything else happens.” He pinched his brow. “Caspian. Send out a mindlink telling everyone we are not to be disturbed by anyone except Dr. Monroe. We have work to do.”

My big brother came to my rescue as always. What would I do without him?
