Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 72

Ellie’s POV

With everything going on at the rogue camp. I half expected Aaron to back out of driving me to the palace.

But as he promised, I sat in his truck, being driven toward the palace. I never even thought about how sane rogues lived. It was a real eye-opening experience. It made me appreciate being a lone wolf, as I had never known my life to be any different. All those people had been driven from their homes for a variety of reasons. Forced to either live a Life of poverty or go insane. Though their circumstances were difficult, they remained resilient, creating a life from what little they had. They deserved better.

I remember Aaron telling me there wasn’t much fuel in his truck, which was why he stopped at the first service station. I intended to use the ATM to withdraw as much money as I could. But as there wasn’t one, I ended up buying a dozen gift vouchers for a random stores. He should be able to get some essentials with them. I know he will spend them wisely. I also picked up a few items for the baby, babygros, pacifiers, a small teddy, and a blanket.

The baby was my first and hopefully last human delivery. I wanted him to know how special he was.

Aaron drove me for hours, and when we were close to the palace. He pulled into another gas station and filled up the truck with gas. So he could make it back safely. I didn’t mind as according to my map app. We were only a fewmiles from the palace. “Thank you for everything.” He said sincerely before leaving me.

I climbed out of his truck, leaving the bag of items behind.

I pulled the straps of my backpack tighter and began the last leg of my journey. Every step I took was one step closer to Sam. Kiki was getting excited as I was. “I hope she forgives my tardiness,” I told Kiki.

“When she hears why, you’re late. She’ll understand. After all, she knows what you’re like.” It was true, and | knew Sam would understand, given the circumstances.

Walking along the roadside, the number of flashy cars passing by was crazy. The speed they were going and the dirt flying up after they zoomed by were something else.

No consideration for pedestrians at all. I consoled myself by screaming after them, not that they could hear me.

Eventually, after an hour, I turned down the private road to the palace. Then, eventually, a huge guard gate came into sight. Butterflies flew around my stomach, thinking of seeing Sam again. I got even more excited.

As I got closer, a guard came out of the hut at the side of the gate. He was wearing an official-looking uniform, and his name tag read Kevin.

He sniffed the air and then growled at me. “What does a piece of trash like you want?” He asked me with a disgusted look on his face.

“Entry. My sister was supposed to have a mating ceremony last night. I was invited, but got delayed. I know I’m late, but I would still like to see her.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“Look. I don’t know why you’re here at the palace, but you’re not getting in, and whoever sold you that fake invitation? You should get your money back.” He scoffed and tore my invitation in half, dropping it on the ground. I looked at the invitation as it lay on the ground. Kevin must have seen my confused expression. It’s the wrong bloody color, you stupid she-wolf. Guest’s invitations are bronze,” He said smugly. “Besides. Even if it was the right color. It’s damaged,” he said, grinning. “Important people look after their stuff. You can’t look after shit. Access denied.”

“I am going to deny his air in a second.” Kiki threatened to kill Kevin.

“I couldn’t give two monkeys about the Alpha King. I want to see my sister.” I yelled at him.

“I don’t care. You’re not getting through those gates. You can take it up with the head of event security. I told her someone out here is causing a scene. I would deal with you myself, but I don’t want to get your scent or your blood on my uniform. Today is too important to look shabby.”

“My blood? You have to be kidding, right? I could bring you to your knees and make you scream like a pup,” I told him smugly. We then stared at one another. I am not scared by his idle threat or by who he brings. He is nothing but a gatekeeper. I will wait for the head of security, hoping they have a brain cell in their head. If I am still refused entry, I will go in by force. Nothing can stop me from getting to Sam. Not the Alpha King and certainly not his army.
