Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 74

Sam’s POV

I sprinted to the shower right after Sasha walked out the door. In my current state, wearing such a beautiful ceremonial gown was out of the question. It would be like disrespecting Caspian’s mother. Which is something I would never do.

There wasn’t much time, so I quickly jumped in the shower before it was warm, carefully avoiding getting my hair wet. There would be no chance for me to dry it before I had to meet Ellie and Caspian in the gardens.

I was drying off in front of the mirror and suddenly felt insecure about my appearance.

“What does Caspian see in

me?” I asked my reflection. All could see was a woman whose body hadn’t fully grown yet. And even then, that body is scared. “Is it just the mate bond Caspian loves the idea of?”

“Stop putting yourself down. Caspian loves you for who you are,” Zola barked at me. I knew she was right. The mate bond may have brought us together, but we chose this. We chose each other forever. My change of mood made Zola happy.

After I brushed my hair and put on my underwear, walked toward the mannequin that held the magnificent dress. Reagan told me it wasn’t an expensive one, as his mother didn’t have a lot of money. But it certainly looked expensive, thanks to its crystal embellishments. They could easily be mistaken for diamonds. Not that I had ever seen one.

Since it was.high-backed and had to go over my head, Sasha usually helped me put it on. But right now it’s just me, which has caused me to struggle. I loved how beautiful the dress was, but it was tight around my hips and thighs, making moving quickly difficult. As I stared in the mirror, I remembered Reagan telling me that Casplan would be thrilled if I wore it. This day is as much about Caspian as it is about me, and it’s a shame to let something so beautiful be hidden away.

I stared at myself, wishing my mom were here with me.I held back my tears, thinking of her. “Ellie will be here soon. She will never replace your mom. But she’s family,” Zola said softly. She was right, and I had to get to the gardens to meet her. So I walked as quickly as I could toward the door, grabbing my veil on my way.

Before I closed the door, I looked back at the room I share with Caspian. This is the last time I will be here unmated.

That thought made me smile as I couldn’t wait to belong to him.

The dress slowed me down, and it took me a good fifteen minutes of walking before I neared the gardens. When | heard voices, I placed the veil over my head. I know it will look silly walking among the crowd wearing a veil. But it will help disguise my scent until I get inside. Caspian told me that guests were not permitted into the garden before the Alpha King’s ceremony started, so i should be safe once I was there.

As l approached the garden entrance, everyone moved out of the way, whispering and bowing. “Your Majesty,” a few people said as I passed. “Isn’t her dress beautiful?” a woman said in awe. I didn’t need to stop and correct them.

As I entered the garden, I couldn’t help but notice how different it looked. The Alpha King had gone all out for his mate. It was beautifully decorated with fairy lights everywhere, and the decor was pink and cream, my favorite. To better appreciate the scenery, I lifted the veil off my face. Taking small steps, I made my way toward the altar. I noticed some new flowers that had been planted. I bent down to admire them.

“Ah, your majesty,” a shrill, screechy voice spoke. I would recognize that voice anywhere, I had heard it all of my life, and now in my nightmares. “Lily,” I told Zola, who instantly started going crazy, wanting to shift and kill her.

I wanted to let her, but that would mean ruining my dress.

“Don’t call me that,” I told her, speaking resentfully. “No one is supposed to be in here,” I said sharply, and I fondled the petals on the flower I had been admiring. All the while hiding my face from Lily. She would not ruin this day for me.

“Well, I am here with my Alpha mate, and when I saw you enter. I couldn’t help but come and say congratulations on your upcoming ceremony.” She said confidently, like she was above the rules.”Thank you. Now you can leave,” I sald. It hurt me to be civil to her. I didn’t want to cause a scene. The Alpha King would be furious. I told myself, trying to find any excuse not to kill her.

“There’s no need to be like that, Your Majesty. I can wait with you while you wait for the Alpha King. He is going to be a while, seeing that the ceremony doesn’t start for another hour. We could be friends.”

“Oh hell no,” Zola snarled, begging me to let her shift.

As I struggled to get myself to a kneeling position, I heard footsteps approaching. Followed by people saying horrible things about me. “Calm down, everyone. The guards are on their way. They will deal with this rogue, Axel announced loudly.

“Tell you what, Samantha. While you’re down there and considering our past friendship. In front of all these witnesses, admit to your adultery and kiss my boots, show everyone here you are my subordinate. I’ll give you my

› necklace and let you walk out of here.” I could hear the happiness in her voice.

Zola was furious. I know I want my mom’s necklace. But there is no chance on this green earth that I would ever show submission to her. “I would rather die,” I yelled as I crawled to a wall so I could pull myself up.

“As you wish,” Axel said as I received a kick to the face.

Causing me to fall backward on the ground. My mouth filled with blood, and my ears rang as I lay there. Sasha will be here any second with Ellie. I told myself as I lay there bleeding and humiliated.

“What’s going on here?” a woman asked loudly. Words were exchanged, but I struggled to hear what was said before I was pulled to my feet. Tears fell from my eyes when I noticed my dress had blood and dirt on it. It was ruined.

Caspian and Reagan would find out what happened and tell the Alpha King. I lifted my head to see who it was that helped me. Only to see Evelyn wearing a white ceremonial dress. “Hello, rogue.” She said horribly. The situation went from bad to worse.

‘Please, goddess, where is Ellie? I need her.’
