Ellie’s POV
I faced several men in robes when I entered the palace. They stared at me as if I were some kind of alien. “Can I help you?” I asked. Not one of them answered me.
“Are these the council members the guard mentioned? The ones who ordered the attack?” I asked Reagan, who nodded his head. Which one of you is Lincoln?” I asked loudly.
An older man stepped forward confidently. He had gray hair, bushy eyebrows, and a hairy nose, but he had an arrogance about him. That was my biggest problem with him. I rolled up my sleeves, ready to make him pay if he said something I didn’t like. “Those guards were under your orders to hold these people as prisoners for no reason. Is that how things are done here? Guilty until proven innocent. Or is it more like kill first and ask questions later?” I am guessing he is not used to being challenged, as he looked confused. Lincoln went to say something, but it had been a long day, and I wasn’t in the mood to listen. “You had better call off the order to detain my friends. Because if they so much as have a scratch on them from now. I am going to kill you and every one of your stinking royal guards, and if you think I won’t, try me,” I snapped. I didn’t even realize how angry I was until Lincoln appeared to be having a stroke, and the men behind him screamed in pain.
“Ellie, calm down. I think you have made your point,” Reagan warned.
“I want to, but there is a jackwipe in front of me who ordered an attack on my friends. It’s difficult.” I responded, getting a slight bit of pleasure from Lincoln’s discomfort.
“Ellie. Lincoln is Head of the Wolf Council; he would have been enforcing the law – that’s his job. I will review the paperwork and personally punish anyone who acted unlawfully. I promise you that.””He should get a better job, or the law needs to be changed,” I snarled. glaring at the old man on his knees in front of me.
“Ellie. Sam is waiting for you,” Reagan said, attempting to save the lives of the men in front of me. I lowered my sleeves to stop my scent from spreading. Then I followed Reagan into the main hall, where Aaron and his pack had been taken. From a distance, I could see Sam and her jerk of a mate.
Sam was holding Elis while Ingrid ate. Sam looked so happy as she rocked the infant. “That is what she always wanted. A family of her own to love,” I told Kiki. Seeing how Caspian stood with his arm wrapped around her, I knew she had forgiven him.
Phillip appeared out of nowhere. He was stressed about Sasha. She must have called him at some point to let him know where she was. ” Don’t worry, Phillip, I’m going to be taking Ellie home later. I’ll bring Sasha back with me,” Reagan informed him. This was news, as expected to be making my way home.
I was exhausted by the time I attended a meeting that Caspian had called. Sam, Regan, and Aaron were there. Capsian told Aaron that a full investigation would be taking place into the attack. Caspian wanted to apologize to Aaron personally and as a form of apology.
Caspian offered Aaron a large piece of land so that he could build his pack. Aaron refused at first as he feared the Alpha King was tricking him. “If it’s a trick, Aaron. I will leave him and become part of your pack,” Sam threatened Caspian.
“Not a chance am I ever letting her go again,” Caspian announced to us all. Which was how Aaron secured a permanent home for his people.
He is a great leader, and the rogue pack will thrive now that they have a permanent home.
As Sam and late, I told her my intention to leave. She got upset and told me she wanted me to stay with her. “I can’t do that, Sam.”She looked heartbroken and began to cry again. “I know it’s upsetting,” I said, hugging her. “But my home is in South View. It’s too dangerous for everyone in these parts if I stay. Besides, what about my practice?
Who is going to look after all those animals if I’m here?”
“But I’ll miss you.” She sobbed.
“You can visit me, or I can come here. It’s just too dangerous for everyone if I’m around long-term.” Sam carried on crying, which made me upset. But I had to do it.
After eating, I slept well. When I woke from a nap, Sam was sitting at the end of the bed pleading with me not to leave. “I have to, Sam.”
“That’s where you’re wrong, Reagan. She does have it. That day in the palace gardens. The day Sasha and I were taken. Lily was wearing it.
She said she would only give it back if I groveled at her feet. That I showed everyone she was superior to me.”
How did have no idea that those two were there? wouldn’t have hesitated to kill them. I clenched my fists and slammed them on the seat. Reagan placed his hand over my fist, and I felt instantly calm. “It was the only thing I wanted the last time I was supposed to be mated.
Now I know that Lily does have it. I don’t know, I just feel that I should get it.” Reagan and I looked at each other and nodded slightly. Then we said in unison, “Phillip, take us to the Shadow Pack.”
As much as he wanted to see Sasha, Phillip turned the car around without question. “You will have it, Sam. I promise you that,” I told her.” Even if I have to tear that pack apart to find it. You will have the one thing your heart desires.”
I looked at Reagan, who was smiling at me. “It’s like you read my mind,” he said, smiling.
Kiki panted as I gazed upon his gorgeous face. Oh, how I wish I could have had him one more time. But that would just complicate things.
Wouldn’t it?
