What was going on with Madison? Didn't she and Janet have a falling out? Why was she suddenly trying to make peace?
Kaitlyn felt a creeping sense of losing control. The others, seeing that no fight had broken out, looked disappointed.
Someone then brought up Madison and Johnny's supposed marriage. "Johnny, I heard you and Madison are about to tie the knot. Have you set a date yet? When's the wedding?"
"It's—"
Johnny barely got a word out before Madison cut him off coldly, "Don't talk nonsense! Johnny and I are no longer involved, and we're never getting married."
Everyone turned to her in shock. "What?"
Janet was so shocked that her eyes went wide.
Although she hadn't spoken to Madison in years, she had heard that Madison had made a scene several times in front of Sam out of desperation so she could be with Johnny.
Snapping out of it, Kaitlyn tried to reason with Madison. "Maddie, stop throwing a tantrum. This isn't something to joke about."
Johnny's face took on a darker shade, but he restrained his anger and said, "Babe, didn't you promise that you would stop being mad after I went shopping with you?"
Others in the room picked up on this and instantly thought Madison was being unappreciative.
"Madison, you shouldn't take things for granted. Don't you know how popular Johnny is right now?"
"He's right. Johnny's a devoted guy. In this day and age, successful men don't stick with their old flames!"
"Madison, take it from me. You should know when to back off. Otherwise, you'll regret it if you push Johnny too far."
"Exactly, if you marry Johnny, you're already marrying above your station!"
Madison crossed her arms, her expression icy as she swept her gaze over those who spoke. Her eyes turned icy as they landed on Johnny, who was at the head of the table, and she sneered.
"Johnny, tell me—am I really the one marrying above my station?"
