Victor took out his phone and turned on the screen, revealing the tear-streaked face of a young boy.
"Asher!"
Domingo was horrified, looking like a rampaging lion. "What the hell do you want?! What did we do to you recently that you'd even go after my child?"
He struggled wildly, forcing Victor to clamp a hand over his mouth.
"Dad, Victor is really there to help you. You have to go with him," Asher pleaded, pacing anxiously on the other side of the screen.
Domingo froze, glancing at Victor.
Victor nodded, then looked back at the screen. "Tell your father, have we treated you badly?"
"No, I'm with Ruby. They haven't hurt me at all. They've been very good to me," Asher replied, nodding obediently.
Still unconvinced, Domingo scrutinized his son's face, searching for any sign that he was being forced to say this.
"Have him take you out of the factory. I need to talk to you."
Suddenly, a cool female voice cut in, and Ruby's elegant face appeared on the screen.
Victor's gaze softened instantly.
Domingo, however, became tense, as if facing a great enemy.
Of course!
"You want revenge on us!" he roared.
He had originally agreed to help Hanley out of greed. Years later, when Hanley came to him again with a generous offer, he had gotten involved in this mess, partly for the money and partly to put the past to rest.
Domingo regretted it now.
Hanley, worried that he might become a threat, had brought him and his wife to the factory. They lived and ate there like ordinary workers, but it was nothing short of imprisonment.
