After her conversation with Carol, Athena found an unremarkable corner and sat down, hoping to stay out of the spotlight.
Tyler had already been dragged off by a group of friends to join in a round of drinks. Before he left, he’d warned her repeatedly not to wander off on her own.
Athena lingered on the sofa for a while before she spotted Maggie making her way over, flanked by a few women.
Maggie pretended not to notice her, but Athena recognized the women at her side.
One of them was Lily Wilson. She’d been Maggie’s shadow since high school—Athena was surprised to see they were still in touch after all these years, and apparently closer than ever.
Lily hadn’t heard the news about Athena and Tyler getting married, so when her gaze landed on Athena, her face registered pure shock.
“Oh my God, Maggie, look who it is! Isn’t that Athena, the most popular girl from our high school?”
Lily made a beeline for her, stopping right in front of Athena with an air of superiority.
“Athena, what are you doing here? Don’t tell me you’re applying for a job as a waitress.”
Given what Athena was wearing, there was no way anyone would mistake her for a staff member. Lily was clearly just being cruel.
Athena didn’t react, which only seemed to incense Lily further. After all, this was the same Athena she used to bully relentlessly in high school—she could still remember Athena on her knees, begging them to stop. A smirk curled on Lily’s lips as she tipped the contents of her glass over Athena’s head.
Caught off guard, Athena didn’t manage to dodge. Liquor dripped from her hair.
“Whoops! Sorry, must’ve lost my grip,” Lily said, feigning innocence.
She’d always been eager to please Maggie, and over the years, the Wilson family had benefited plenty from her efforts.
Having humiliated Athena, Lily was brimming with satisfaction, already turning to boast to Maggie—only to freeze as Athena stood up, grabbed a fistful of her hair, and landed a swift kick to Lily’s stomach.
Lily doubled over, her face turning ashen as she stumbled backward and crashed to the floor a few feet away.
“How dare you kick me?”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Athena hurled a glass of wine right at her.
People nearby began to murmur, all eyes on Athena now—the woman who’d started a brawl at a party like this.
Lily sat sprawled on the floor, soaked and disheveled, but her eyes darted to Maggie, hoping for backup.
And Maggie did speak up, finally.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
What is wrong that the author has not updated this novel in over a month or is there somewhere else that I can continue reading the novel from chapter 1951 upwards? Do tell, please. Thanks....
