Once the group finished their analysis, Athena was forced to move forward again.
As they emerged from the narrow passage, the distant sound of a helicopter reached her ears. She couldn't tell whether it belonged to Marlon's crew or the Windhelm government.
Marlon's men glanced up, their faces paling. It seemed the chopper was from the Windhelm government.
Athena was quickly pulled into the dense forest. The woods here were primitive, being so close to the Windhelm border. Just another kilometer, and they'd be out of the government's reach.
She heard one of the Azmorian men curse under his breath, and surprisingly, it was in English, so she caught every word. "Damn it! Bloody hell!"
The man cursed a few more times, ducking into the thick, towering trees. The helicopter above couldn't see through the canopy, but it must have spotted them earlier. If the crew radioed in, it wouldn't be long before they had company.
The Azmorian man led the way, occasionally pausing to decide on their direction. Athena was hustled along by Marlon, everyone moving quickly through the underbrush.
But then the Azmorian man stopped dead in his tracks, muttering something to Marlon. At first, Marlon seemed unbothered, but his expression soon darkened. He arched an eyebrow at Athena, and she knew instantly that the man had some unsavory idea involving her.
With little choice, Marlon still needed him for navigation, and if the man demanded something now, Marlon would likely accept. Instead, Marlon swiftly pulled out a knife and stabbed it into the man's arm.
The man's face turned ghostly white with pain, nearly collapsing. Marlon barked something at him in Azmorian, and the man's demeanor changed instantly, becoming deferential. He didn't dare glance at Athena again, continuing to lead them with a newfound caution.
Athena pressed her lips together, thinking Marlon truly was a madman. Even when he needed someone, he didn't hesitate to tick them off.
As they moved on, gunshots suddenly rang out, and everyone instinctively ducked. Tension rose among the group, but Athena remained oddly calm.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
What is wrong that the author has not updated this novel in over a month or is there somewhere else that I can continue reading the novel from chapter 1951 upwards? Do tell, please. Thanks....
