Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2303

Inside the cave.

Athena had been walking for what felt like forever, and she was completely out of energy.

In their group, she was the only woman.

There were small lamps fixed into the stone walls of the cave, suggesting this was a well-prepared tunnel.

Reaching a slightly open area, everyone sat down to rest.

Someone handed Marlon a bottle of water, which he took a few sips from before his gaze fell on Athena.

She sat silently beside him, missing one shoe, her feet bloody and raw from the journey. It was a painful sight.

Marlon gave a slight smirk, tossing the bottle aside.

Athena was thirsty too, but didn't ask for water. Instead, she leaned against the cold stone to rest.

Marlon wanted a break as well. They’d been moving for ages, and this cave seemed safe. No matter how hard the cops searched outside, they wouldn't find this place anytime soon.

After a ten-minute rest, they were up and moving again.

Athena overheard someone speaking to Marlon in Azmorian, a language she didn’t understand, though Marlon seemed to follow it just fine.

They walked for another hour, with Athena noticing the path was sloping down. This tunnel, probably running through the entire mountain, seemed like something Marlon had arranged when he cleaned up the Keller family's affairs. He clearly had his escape route planned.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to move all the Keller family’s cash so quickly.

Athena stumbled, scraping her knee.

Marlon gave her a tug, forcing her back up.

They walked for who knows how long, but Athena felt she couldn’t take another step. Her body was ready to give out, and she nearly fainted.
