Everest's Guardian Hubby Watched Me Freeze My Ghost Knows Where He'll Burn novel Chapter 5

Chapter 4

Evelyn’s eyes shot open wide with shock. “I never said that! You’re lying!” she protested, her voice trembling with disbelief.

Benjamin’s patience snapped like a brittle twig. Without another word, he shoved her forcefully toward the door. Evelyn stumbled and fell hard onto the cold, unforgiving snow outside.

“You actually have the nerve to insult her right here, in front of me?” Benjamin’s voice was sharp, filled with fury. “Kneel. Don’t you dare come back until you understand exactly what you did wrong!”

He glared at her, his tone cold and unyielding. “And if you don’t, don’t ever call me Dad again!”

Chapter 5

The heavy door slammed shut behind Evelyn with a thunderous bang, echoing through the silent house.

Inside, Benjamin’s voice softened as he whispered an apology to Victoria. The gentleness in his tone was something I hadn’t heard in years—a rare moment of tenderness between them.

Meanwhile, outside, Evelyn lay motionless in the snow, her cheeks wet with tears that quickly froze into tiny, glistening beads of ice. Her body was numb, but her spirit was far from broken.

“I didn’t lie,” she whispered fiercely to herself. “Mom didn’t lie either.”

“She’s a terrible person. She stole Dad from me. She took away my home.”

Time seemed to stretch endlessly, dragging on until Evelyn’s tears almost dried up completely. Then, with a sudden surge of strength, she pushed herself to her feet. Her eyes, swollen and red, burned with a fierce, desperate determination.

She staggered forward, aimlessly wandering through the deserted streets blanketed in snow. Then, without hesitation, she began heading toward the mountain.

“Not our problem. Victoria told us to leave them there. She froze to death all on her own.”

“That woman is ruthless. Doesn’t care about her own life or anyone else’s. Benjamin’s wrapped around her finger and still thinks she’s some kind of saint.”

“Let’s get out of here. She’s still Captain Carter’s wife. What if he comes looking for us?”

They were wrong.

Benjamin wasn’t coming.

He wanted me gone. Dead.
