From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 100

The two of them chatted and laughed a bit longer before finally parting ways.

As she left, Catherine Blair shot a glance in the direction Daisy Dale had pointed earlier. Her eyes were shadowed with a look that was hard to read.

After a moment, she closed her eyes. When she opened them again, all that uncertainty had hardened into steely determination.

She liked Ethan Carter.

And that meant Ethan Carter was hers.

Given her relationship with Shirley Carter, who could possibly take him from her?

———

Inside the private dining room, the waiter had just finished setting the table, carrying in steaming dishes of roast beef, mashed potatoes, and green beans.

Adelina Lane piled Olivia Bennett’s plate high, scooping generous helpings of potato gratin and green bean casserole, practically covering her dinner roll before finally setting down the serving spoon.

After taking a bite of her own food, Adelina suddenly remembered to ask, “Olivia, what kind of food do you like? I can ask the chef to make something special next time.”

Olivia glanced briefly at Ethan Carter and replied softly, “Ethan and I have pretty similar tastes, actually.”

Adelina smiled warmly. “Perfect. I’ll have the chef whip up a few dishes I know you’ll both love.”

Olivia nodded, her smile sweet. “Thank you, Mom.”

She ate quietly after that, and Adelina let her be, only checking on the two of them from time to time.

As she watched, Adelina realized her son really was a solid guy.

Whenever Olivia wanted something, Ethan was right there, anticipating her needs—the way he passed the bread, poured her water, or offered her the gravy. Clearly, he’d done this a lot before.

Adelina’s smile grew, her heart swelling with satisfaction.

After dinner, Adelina excused herself, leaving the two of them alone, and headed home.

Ethan drove Olivia back, merging into the busy city traffic.

Olivia’s head felt foggy as she woke up, blinking at the bright light pouring in through the window. Outside, tree branches swayed in the breeze, the leaves dancing as if putting on a show just for her.

She was in a car. Right, she remembered now.

Her mind cleared as she noticed her seat was reclined. As if reading her thoughts, the seat slowly began to rise back up.

Shrugging off the blanket, she rubbed the back of her neck and looked at Ethan. “Why didn’t you wake me?”

Ethan replied, “You looked tired. Figured I’d let you sleep a bit. Didn’t want to wake you and have you struggling to fall back asleep.”

Olivia hesitated. “Didn’t I make you late for work?”

Ethan just grinned. “I’m the boss, Ms. Bennett.”

Olivia blinked, then grinned right back.

Well, wasn’t that just like him.
