From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 176

Ethan Carter kept it short and sweet. “The Bakers are throwing a party.”

The Bakers and the Carters had always gotten along well.

No reason not to go.

Evan Dale just nodded and headed off to the Baker house.

The party was in full swing.

Olivia Bennett was happily working her way through a generous slice of chocolate cake when, out of nowhere, two people appeared right in front of her.

She looked up, recognized them, and her fork froze midair. Her face went cold.

She honestly hadn’t expected this.

Of all places, she had to run into Lavinia Bennett at the Bakers’ party. Talk about bad luck.

She glanced down at her plate—just one bite of cake left.

Olivia picked up her fork, popped the last piece into her mouth, and was just about to get up and leave.

That’s when Claire Camp stepped forward, dropped her hand on the table with a loud thud, and glared at her. “What’s with the attitude? Didn’t you see us walk over?”

Claire honestly couldn’t believe Olivia had just ignored them so completely.

Just a quick, lazy glance up, then right back to her cake.

Like they weren’t even people.

Olivia stood up without even glancing at Claire and headed for the door.

It was Naomi Barton’s birthday, after all. Olivia didn’t want to start drama and ruin the party for everyone.

Claire’s face turned stiff. She looked back at Lavinia Bennett for backup. “Okay, even if you don’t know me, what about Lavinia? She’s basically your—well, she’s Lavinia. You didn’t even bother to say hi. What gives?”

Olivia glanced at Lavinia, who was standing behind Claire, her expression cool and full of disdain.

Normally, Lavinia would’ve tossed a few snarky comments Olivia’s way herself. But with Claire doing the dirty work, she was content to just stand back and watch.

If anything happened, she could just play innocent.

Olivia turned her attention back to Claire, face unreadable. “First, I don’t know you, so whether I talk to her or not is none of your business. Second, my parents only had one kid, so I’ve never had a Lavinia. Third, this is the Baker’s birthday party, and I’m not looking to start something. But if you insist, don’t come crying when things get messy.”

Claire flinched, actually a little rattled. She bit her lip, glancing around.

They were tucked away in a quiet corner—no one seemed to be paying any attention.

Lavinia laid a hand on Claire’s shoulder and said quietly, “Don’t worry. It’s just a couple of words. Nothing’s gonna happen.”
