From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 254

“Beatty said she carved it for me, so I just asked her about it.”

Olivia’s brows knit together, guilt flickering in her eyes.

Adelina Lane gave her a gentle pat on the shoulder, trying to reassure her. “This isn’t your fault, Olivia. Don’t beat yourself up. Once the doctors take a look, we’ll know what’s going on.”

But Olivia Bennett still looked worried. She tugged at Ethan Carter’s sleeve. “Can we go to the hospital too? I want to know if Beatty’s okay.”

She didn’t really understand how things had spiraled so quickly. Still, it had happened right after their conversation, and she just couldn’t shake the feeling of responsibility.

Ethan saw the guilt weighing on her and nodded. “Yeah, let’s go.” He led her out the door.

At the hospital, Olivia and Ethan arrived to find Damian Franklin pacing anxiously outside the emergency room, his face clouded with worry. Lance Carter stood quietly nearby.

Olivia knew now wasn’t the time for questions. She stood beside them in silence, waiting for news.

Ethan gestured to a row of plastic chairs lining the hallway. “Let’s sit and wait.”

Olivia nodded and sat down with him, but she kept glancing toward the ER doors, barely able to sit still.

Ethan reached over and squeezed her hand. “She’ll be fine.”

Olivia managed a small smile, though her nerves were still frayed.

After what felt like forever, the ER doors finally swung open and a doctor stepped out.

Damian was the first to speak. “Doctor, how’s my wife doing?”

The doctor offered a calm smile. “She’s stable. Her tests are all clear—she probably just fainted from emotional stress. She needs some rest and should avoid anything too upsetting for a while.”

Damian let out a breath in relief. “Thank you, doctor.”

Olivia’s eyes widened. “So… this is really for me?”

“Yes,” Damian replied simply.

“And… the engraving on it? Beatty did that too?”

Damian traced the inscription with his thumb, his eyes distant, almost nostalgic. “She did. But she carved it a long time ago.”

Olivia blinked, confused. “A long time ago? But I’ve only known you and Beatty for a couple of months.”

Damian met her gaze, his look strangely intense. Instead of answering, he asked, “Do you know why she carved that word?”

His expression unsettled her, and Olivia shook her head.

Damian glanced at Beatty, lying pale in the hospital bed, before turning back to Olivia. He spoke slowly, each word deliberate. “Beatty carved it for our daughter.”
