From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 271

Olivia Bennett had just chopped her hair short. The moment she stepped through the front door, everyone stared at her in surprise for a split second—then the compliments came flooding in.

She was practically blushing from all the praise.

It was only after the excitement settled that Lily George asked, “So, how did your check-up go?”

Olivia handed over her ultrasound report. “Doctor said the baby’s doing great.”

“That’s wonderful news.” Lily beamed, studying the report with a huge smile before turning to Olivia with a gentle voice. “You’re in your third trimester now, so it’s bound to be a bit tougher than before. If you feel anything off, promise me you’ll tell Ethan or your mom right away, okay?”

Olivia nodded obediently. “I will.”

“And you, Ethan.” Lily turned her serious gaze on Ethan Carter, her son-in-law, “You need to keep an extra eye on her.”

Ethan nodded just as seriously. “Of course.”

They sat together a while longer, chatting and catching up, until Olivia excused herself to head upstairs for a little rest.

She’d barely made it to her room when her phone buzzed with a video call.

Seeing the caller ID, Olivia’s eyes lit up and a huge smile broke across her face. She flopped onto the bed and answered right away.

“Olivia, guess where I am?” came Nannie Bruce’s cheerful voice.

All Olivia could see was her friend’s mischievous grin on the screen.

“You’re back in town?” Olivia guessed.

Nannie gave her a big thumbs-up and laughed. “You know me too well! Look—” She spun the phone around, showing off her familiar bedroom.

“When did you get back?”

“Just a little while ago,” Nannie said, sprawled out on her bed. “It’s been ages—I’m coming by to see you tomorrow.”

Olivia was more than happy. “Perfect. Let me treat you to lunch tomorrow.”

“Deal!”

Just as they finished making plans, Olivia’s bedroom door creaked open.

… … …

The Dale Family Household.

Daisy Dale and Shirley Carter were curled up on the living room sofa, chatting about everything and nothing, when the housekeeper came in.

“Mrs. Dale, Mrs. Blair and Ms. Blair are at the front door. They’re asking to see you and Miss Shirley.”

Daisy’s cheerful mood vanished instantly. Her face turned cold as she said, “Tell them to leave. We’re not seeing them.”

“I did, ma’am, but they said if you and Miss Shirley don’t come out, they’ll just wait out front until you do,” the housekeeper replied, looking exasperated.

Daisy pressed her lips into a thin line, not budging an inch. “Fine. Let them wait out there. I don’t believe they’ll actually stay.”

The housekeeper nodded and hurried off.

Daisy’s good mood was gone, replaced by a deep frown.

Just hearing Catherine Blair’s name brought back memories of that awful day.
