From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 278

Olivia Bennett found herself feeling a little nostalgic.

She paused for a moment and then said quietly, “No one stays a kid forever, do they?”

“So it’s just something you think about sometimes,” Nannie Bruce replied with a sigh, pulling herself out of her own thoughts. “Did you text Ethan Carter yet?”

“Yeah, I did.” Olivia checked her phone again just to be sure. “Still no reply.”

“Maybe I should just drive you over there,” Nannie Bruce offered. “That way, Ethan doesn’t have to come all the way out here.”

Olivia glanced at her phone one more time. Ethan was usually quick to text back; he was probably tied up with work.

She nodded, not bothering to protest. “Okay. Thanks, Nannie.”

Nannie Bruce stood up and grabbed her purse. “Alright, let’s go.”

They stepped out of the cozy little diner together.

A few doors down, there was a small flower shop, and as they walked past, Olivia spotted a man stepping out with a big, beaming smile and a bouquet of deep red roses in his arms.

Nannie Bruce caught Olivia’s gaze lingering on the shop. “Thinking about getting some flowers?”

Olivia hesitated, but then nodded. She and Ethan had been together for a while now, and it was always him bringing her flowers—she’d never done it for him.

Without missing a beat, Nannie Bruce grinned and pulled her along. “Let’s do it.”

The shop smelled like spring—fresh and sweet. The florist, a cheerful woman named Missy, greeted them with a bright smile. “Hi there, ladies! Looking for something special?”

Nannie Bruce looked at Olivia. “What do you want to get Ethan?”

Olivia didn’t answer right away. She wandered past the buckets of daisies, sunflowers, and tulips before her eyes settled on a big basket of blue delphiniums.

“Could I get a big bouquet of those? And… could you make it look nice? Like, really nice?” she asked, pointing to the delphiniums.

Missy nodded, already pulling stems from the basket. “You got it! Just give me a sec.”

Nannie Bruce eyed the flowers Olivia had picked. “Do you know what those mean?”

As Nannie Bruce pulled into traffic, Olivia shot Ethan a quick text:

**[Nannie’s giving me a ride, so you don’t need to pick me up.]**

At the Carter Group offices, Ethan Carter finally closed his laptop after a long video meeting and realized he had several unread messages. He tapped his phone and saw Olivia’s text.

He messaged back right away:

**[I’ll meet you at the parking lot!]**

Not wasting a second, he pushed back his chair and headed for the private elevator.

By the time Olivia’s phone buzzed with his reply, she was just a few minutes from the building.

**[Be there in a few minutes!]** she typed back, smiling.

Ethan glanced at her reply, then tucked his phone away. Just as he was locking his office, he heard hurried footsteps behind him and a gentle female voice calling his name.
