From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 284

It was a photo.

A second later, another message popped up.

**[Olivia, I had someone take this for me. Does it look familiar?]**

Olivia Bennett tapped the photo, making it expand to fill her phone screen.

It showed a woman in a bright red dress, stylish and striking, her arm linked with a middle-aged man.

Olivia knew both of them. The man was Mason Bennett—her father. The woman was the same one she'd run into at the hospital a few days ago, though her outfit was different. That face, though—Olivia would have recognized it anywhere.

She swiped through the image a couple of times, then quickly typed back:

**[Yeah, that’s her.]**

**[You got any more?]**

Damian Franklin replied almost instantly.

**[I’ve got a few more. Maybe a dozen or so.]**

Olivia’s lips pressed together in a thoughtful line. She didn’t hesitate before firing off another message:

**[I’ll swing by tomorrow.]**

She’d been toying with the idea of exposing Mason at the wedding, but hadn’t actually talked it through with Damian yet. Now that she had the pictures, it was time to loop him in. Whether they’d go through with it or not, they’d have to decide together.

Damian’s answer was quick:

**[Sounds good.]**

Olivia didn’t reply. She just curled her fingers around her phone, staring at the photo again. Her thoughts drifted, so far away she didn’t even notice Ethan Carter walk into the room.

“What’s got you so deep in thought?”

Ethan’s voice came from right behind her, across the back of the couch. He leaned down, his lips close to her ear.

His deep, warm voice startled her out of her reverie. Olivia turned her head, and her lips accidentally brushed his.

She froze for a split second, then pulled away. “You have to stop sneaking up on me.”

Ethan grinned, clearly amused. He leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to her lips, his nose grazing her cheek.

“I’m sure.” He lifted her hand, kissed the back of it, his dark eyes soft. “And if it blows up, Mrs. Carter, you can hold me responsible.”

Olivia tried to look stern, but her eyes sparkled. “I’m holding you to that.”

Ethan nodded. “If it turns out badly, you can blame me. But if it works…” His voice took on a teasing edge, “Don’t you think I deserve some kind of reward?”

She gave him a look. “You’re always angling for something, aren’t you?”

She slipped her hand away, then paused, curiosity getting the better of her. “What kind of reward are we talking about?”

Ethan didn’t answer right away. His eyes landed on the bouquet of wildflowers on her desk. “How about the flowers you gave me today? Consider that my reward in advance.”

Olivia shot him a surprised look.

Ethan cocked an eyebrow. “What’s with that look?”

She shook her head quickly, feigning innocence. “Nothing. Just, I already gave you the flowers, so if that’s your reward, I hope you’re not too disappointed.”

Ethan’s eyes darkened with mischief as he pretended to ponder. “No, I think it’s perfect. But if you’re really feeling guilty about it, I wouldn’t say no to another reward.”
