From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 367

“…”

Olivia Bennett couldn’t help but playfully swat his hand away. “Well, she said she doesn’t see anything good about her dad at all.”

Ethan Carter slid his arm around her waist and gently turned her to face him, locking eyes with her. “Seriously?”

Olivia glanced away for a second, then nodded. “Yeah, that’s exactly what she said—mmph…”

Her words got caught in her throat.

Olivia’s eyes widened.

They were face to face when Carter leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to her lips, pulling away almost immediately.

The sudden absence of his warmth made Olivia forget what she’d been about to say.

Ethan smiled at her, his gaze soft, then brushed his thumb lightly across her lips, curiosity sparkling in his eyes. “So, what did Carey actually say?”

Olivia looked at him, quickly turning her head away to avoid another kiss-interruption. “Nothing, really. She didn’t say a word.”

Ethan let out a low chuckle.

Olivia’s cheeks flushed. She puffed up her cheeks and shot him a look. “I’m going inside.”

With that, she spun around and slipped into the bedroom.

Ethan’s lips curled into a small smile as he watched her retreat, a little glint of amusement in his eyes.

After a couple of seconds, he followed her in.

Olivia pulled out her phone and texted Helen Adams, asking for an update.

That’s when Ethan seemed to remember something. “Did Elaine say she was picking up your coworkers?”

Olivia nodded. “Yeah, their car broke down on the way here, so Elaine went to check on them.”

Just as she finished speaking, Helen’s reply popped up.

Olivia glanced at her phone, fired back a quick “Great, thanks!” and told Ethan, “Elaine’s got them now, they’re on their way, and the car’s being towed to the shop.”

Ethan nodded. “I’ll have our driver take them home later.”

Olivia nodded, then suddenly asked, “Is it crowded downstairs?”

Olivia smiled. “Go ahead and take a seat. I’ll have someone bring up coffee and some pastries.”

“Thanks, Olivia,” they all said, exchanging nervous glances but not actually sitting down.

Olivia couldn’t help but laugh. “You all look exhausted from the drive. Planning to stand there and chat all afternoon?”

Helen shook her head. “No, not at all.”

Elaine Carter grinned. “Come on, sit! You’re Olivia’s guests, you don’t have to be so formal.”

Ethan, not quite as warm as Elaine, still said, “You all chat, I’ll go ask someone to bring up the food.”

He gave Olivia a quick look and left the room.

The moment he was gone, everyone visibly relaxed.

Helen shot a glance at Olivia before gingerly sitting down on the couch.

Davina and the others quickly followed suit.

Elaine noticed and gave a little laugh. “Are you all really that scared of Ethan?”
