From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 371

He took Carey into his arms, gently rocking her and whispering softly to soothe her.

Adelina Lane’s brow was still furrowed with worry. Seeing how anxious Olivia Bennett looked, she quickly tried to comfort her. “Don’t worry, Olivia. Remember last time? Everything turned out fine, and I’m sure it will this time, too. You’ve still got Carey here, and it’s late. Stay home, okay? Your dad and I will head over and keep you updated.”

Olivia wanted to go herself, but Carey was still sobbing in her arms and wouldn’t settle down.

She had no choice but to nod in agreement.

Adelina gave her a reassuring look, then hurried out the door after Olivia’s dad.

Just minutes ago, the living room had been full of voices and laughter. Now, it felt empty except for Carey’s cries echoing off the walls.

Lily George patted Olivia’s shoulder. “Your parents are already on their way. Everything’s going to be alright.”

Olivia nodded, blinking back tears.

Carey kept crying, her little fists balled up in distress.

Olivia’s heart ached with every sob.

She turned to Ethan Carter. “Let me hold her.”

Ethan studied her for a second, saw she’d steadied herself, and gently passed Carey into her arms.

Olivia cuddled her daughter, whispering soothing words.

Ethan bent down to pick up a photo from the floor. He glanced at it, his brow furrowing for just a moment, before placing it back in its box.

Thankfully, after a few minutes, Carey finally stopped crying.

Olivia let out a shaky sigh of relief, though her nerves were still on edge.

Ethan stayed by her side the whole time.

It wasn’t until Adelina called and assured them everything was fine that Olivia finally relaxed, her shoulders slumping with relief.

Ethan wrapped her in a hug. “See? It’s okay now.”

His familiar scent, the solid warmth of his embrace, and Carey’s peaceful breathing in her arms finally helped Olivia calm down.

She rested against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart, feeling her own anxieties slowly ease.

She lowered her gaze, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m still a little worried.”

“Get some rest,” Ethan murmured, smoothing her hair. “Tomorrow morning, I’ll go to the hospital with you.”

Damian glanced at her, then looked away, deciding not to push.

The clock ticked on. The hospital room was so quiet, every sound seemed to echo.

No one spoke. Time crawled by.

Suddenly, there was a faint noise from the bed.

Olivia’s heart leapt into her throat. She stared at Beatty, not daring to blink.

Beatty’s lashes fluttered, and then, slowly, she opened her eyes.

“Mom.” Olivia breathed, her voice full of hope and relief.

Beatty frowned slightly, staring at her, silent for a long, long moment.

The joy of seeing her awake faded into worry as Olivia leaned in, her words tumbling out in a rush. “Mom, are you alright? Does anything hurt? Can you hear me?”

Beatty didn’t respond. Damian’s brow furrowed too. “Beatty, can you hear us?”

Finally, Beatty blinked, her voice faint. “Olivia…”
