From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 383

The small group finally snapped out of their daze, each of them averting their gaze in awkward surprise.

Honestly, this was just… bizarre. Completely bizarre.

Because none of them had ever seen Ethan Carter act like this before.

That soft, gentle way he was soothing Olivia—if not for his face, you’d never believe it was Ethan Carter.

If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, they wouldn’t have bought it for a second.

Everyone in the room knew each other pretty well—old friends, really—so the birthday party was buzzing with lively chatter.

Olivia Bennett, feeling a bit bored, leaned against Ethan, scrolling through her phone. She messaged Adelina Lane, asking a few things about Carey. Adelina replied with a couple of photos of the baby.

Ethan glanced over, “Missing Carey already?”

“Yeah,” Olivia admitted, “It’s been almost a whole day since we saw her.”

“Let’s head home, then.”

Olivia looked up at him, uncertain. “Can we? Is the party over?”

“It’s fine,” Ethan said, glancing around at the others. “Looks like they’re about to switch venues anyway. We can skip out.”

Just as he finished, Carlson Baker stood up and announced, “Alright folks, you know the drill—time to move to the next spot!”

Everyone agreed enthusiastically.

Ethan turned to Carlson, “We’re going to head out, gotta get back to Carey.”

Carlson grinned, “No worries.”

A few others piped up, saying they needed to go too. Only those with something urgent left, and Carlson didn’t try to stop them.

Ethan took Olivia’s hand and helped her up. She waved goodbye to Carlson, and together, they headed out.

The hallway was lined with a plush red carpet, but there was a spot where it bunched up a bit.

Olivia didn’t notice and caught her toe, stumbling forward.

Ethan’s reflexes were lightning-fast—he caught her in his arms. “You okay?”
