From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 139

“Grandpa, Grandma, I’m home!”

Jessie expected to see her grandma’s usual warm smile, but instead, Paola looked worried. She set Jared’s exam papers down in front of Jessie and gave her a serious look.

“Jessie, can you explain what’s going on here?”

Jessie realized instantly that she’d been ratted out.

“Grandma, don’t be so serious. Are you really going to take an outsider’s side over mine?”

Paola’s tone was firm. “Jessie, this is important. What you did could hurt our school’s reputation, you know that? And accusing a seventeen-year-old of cheating… don’t you think that’s a bit much?”

Andrew walked over, his expression curious. “What happened?”

Paola quickly filled him in. Andrew had never seen Jessie act like this before.

“Jessie, did she do something to you?” he asked.

“Yes!” Jessie’s eyes filled with tears. “Eleanor started it!”

“Grandma, Grandpa, I can’t stand her. Isn’t it normal for me to be upset?”

Paola sighed, looking confused but softening as soon as she saw Jessie cry.

“Jessie, I just want to understand why. I’m not saying I won’t support you, but this time, you were in the wrong.”

Jessie’s tears fell even harder, her voice trembling. “Grandma, she pushed me down the stairs last time. How could I not hate her after that?”

Andrew’s face darkened. “She pushed you down the stairs? Who does she think she is?”

Jessie lowered her head, her voice small. “Peter knows too. I didn’t call the police because of him. Adam wanted to make her pay, but I let it go.”

She sniffled, wiping her eyes. “But being nice just made her worse. She started spreading rumors about me online, saying horrible things… She even called me a homewrecker and accused me of going after Peter.”

Jessie buried her face in her grandma’s arms. “How am I supposed to just let that go?”

Paola didn’t expect this twist. She sighed and hugged Jessie tighter. “Alright, don’t cry. I believe you. You loved Grady so much, there’s no way you’d get mixed up with his brother.”

Andrew shook his head, his patience clearly gone. “No more defending outsiders. If she’s going to slander Jessie, then Jessie has every right to defend herself. If her brother has a problem, he should blame his own sister for causing trouble.”

“Brookstone High.”

Her eyes widened. Brookstone High was the best private school around, with top-notch everything. She’d never even considered it was possible.

“Really? Is that okay? I don’t want to trouble you.”

Sidler glanced at the man lounging on his office sofa, who just grinned. Sidler managed not to laugh. “It’s not a problem. My uncle’s a great guy and he loves helping out.”

“Thank you so much, Mr. Sidler.”

“No problem. Why don’t you bring your brother with you that day?”

Eleanor thanked him several more times before hanging up.

Sidler turned to the man on his sofa and gave him a look. “Why don’t you just tell her yourself?”

Max’s smile was sly. “If she finds out on her own, she’ll remember me better, won’t she?”

Sidler just rolled his eyes.
