From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 21

When Jessie saw the teacher refuse the gift, her patience snapped. “Ms. Bennett, would you care to tell me why you dragged me here like it was some kind of emergency?”

She sounded like she owned the place, her words sharp and cold.

One of the parents, fed up with Jessie’s attitude, finally spoke up. “Excuse me, but your daughter caused chaos this morning. Eighty percent of our kids were late because of her. How can you act like this is no big deal?”

Jessie lowered her eyes and let out a little laugh, clearly unimpressed. She shot the woman a look, then turned back to the teacher. “Ms. Bennett, do all the parents in my daughter’s class behave this way? Their own kids are late, so they blame someone else’s child. Does that seem reasonable to you?”

“You have some nerve. If your daughter hadn’t told everyone the wrong time, our kids wouldn’t have been late. We all thought the school schedule had changed!”

Jessie pressed her lips together, holding back a smile. “Looks like most of the parents here aren’t exactly highly educated. I can understand kids making mistakes, but adults with no judgment… well, that says a lot.”

She glanced at her watch. “Anyway, my time is valuable. Ms. Bennett, if there’s nothing else, I’m pulling Olga out for the rest of the day.”

A parent stepped in front of her, blocking the way. “You think you can just leave like that?”

Jessie didn’t even blink. She pulled out her phone and called the principal. “Hi, Principal Lane, I’d like to transfer Olga to another kindergarten. Well, there are just too many unreasonable parents here. Oh, changing classes is an option? Perfect. I’ll have Ms. Bennett send you the names of the families causing trouble.”

She paused, her tone suddenly sweet. “By the way, your school building seems a bit old. Ever thought about putting up a new one?”

She hung up and gave Ms. Bennett a wry smile. “I’m going to pick up Olga now.”

With that, Jessie walked away, her heels clicking as every parent stared in stunned silence.

“Ms. Bennett, that was outrageous. I’ve never seen anyone act like that!”

“Maura’s mom, isn’t your husband with the ethics committee? Isn’t this basically bribery?”

And now, she was going to the amusement park.

She hugged Jessie tight, soaking up the affection. “Mommie Jessie, I love you so much. Can you be my real mommy?”

Jessie grinned. “I can’t, sweetie. If your mom heard you say that, she’d be really sad.”

Olga pouted, thinking about how her dad had already scolded her for saying something like that. “It’s just so annoying, Mommie Jessie. How can I get my mom and dad to get divorced?”

There was a kid in her class whose parents were divorced. Divorced parents could live apart, and if that happened, Olga would choose her dad in a heartbeat. She’d never have to see her mother again.

Jessie just smiled. “Olga, let’s not worry about anything sad today. We’re going to the amusement park, remember?”

Divorce, she thought, was bound to happen sooner or later anyway.
