From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 237

Jessie Goff stiffened, picking up on Eleanor’s tone. Otto, on the other hand, didn’t get it at all.

“Um… I don’t think that’s necessary. When would work for you?”

“Tomorrow morning. Eight-thirty. You’ll have half an hour to apologize. After that, I’m heading to work.”

Eleanor wasn’t going to let the insult slide. She’d take it back the same way she got it. That seemed fair.

“Alright. See you in the morning.”

After the call ended, Eleanor glanced up to see Max coming in, swapping his shoes at the door.

“Hey, Max. They’re going to apologize tomorrow. I told them to film it and post it online. I think I’ve made my point. If they actually mean it, I say we just let it go.”

“You really want to just drop it?” Max sounded serious.

Eleanor nodded. “Yeah. It’s not worth starting a business feud over something so small.”

Max let out a low chuckle. “What, are you worried I’ll go broke?”

She rolled her eyes, laughing. “Please. Dealing with people like them is nothing for you.”

Eleanor’s smile softened. “No, I just… I worry about you.”

Something shifted in Max’s gaze. He walked over, his long fingers gently brushing a strand of hair away from her face as he leaned in.

His warm breath tickled the spot just behind her ear, making her skin flush in an instant.

“Worried about me?” he murmured.

“In that case, Mrs. Clarkson, how about a little thank you?”
