From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 289

Olga’s eyes went wide with fear. She shrank back, pressing herself close to her grandmother for protection.

George cleared his throat. “Alright, Max, that’s enough. She’s just a kid.”

Max wouldn’t let it go. “How old is she now? Starting school next year, right? She’s old enough to know how to behave. That’s what I’m saying, Peter. You need to start teaching your daughter some manners. Otherwise, she’s only going to cause trouble when she gets to school.”

Max had no filter. He never cared how young someone was, not even a child.

Peter’s face shifted from red to pale. He knew Olga was the one who’d started it.

“Olga, call him Uncle and apologize,” Peter told her.

He glanced at Eleanor, completely lost for words. Was he supposed to ask his daughter to call her own mother ‘Aunt’ now?

A sour ache filled Olga’s chest. She hated the idea of apologizing, but with both her father and grandmother giving her that look, she had no choice. Her voice was barely a whisper. “Sorry, Uncle.”

Max stayed cold. “And? You should apologize to my wife too. She’s your aunt, after all.”

Olga pressed her lips together, but ‘aunt’ just wouldn’t come out.

“I’m sorry,” she mumbled, turning her face away and hiding again behind her grandmother.

Eleanor smiled softly and gave Max’s hand a gentle squeeze. “Alright, that’s enough. Let’s go inside.”

Max finally let it drop.

Marleigh took Eleanor’s arm and pulled her to sit close, making it clear whose side she was on. “Come on, Eleanor, sit by me.”

Autumn and the others were surprised at how much respect Eleanor had in the Clarkson family. Jessie’s look was complicated. It was all because Eleanor had married Max.
