From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 337

Max quietly switched off his phone.

"Enough scrolling. Are you tired? Want me to carry you out for dinner?"

It had only been a few days since he confessed his feelings, and Eleanor still wasn’t used to the way he looked at her, all soft and overflowing with affection.

She lowered her head, cheeks warm. "No need. I’m pregnant, not helpless."

"I can walk on my own."

She stood up a little too fast. Between too much sleep and not enough food lately, the room spun for a second.

Max caught her around the waist before she could sway. "Uh-huh. You sure about that?"

He bent down and scooped her up into his arms like it was the most natural thing in the world.

"Come on. Don’t be shy. Husbands are supposed to take care of their wives."

He held her close. In that moment, he wasn’t just holding her. He was holding his whole future.

At the dining table, the housekeeper had already laid out a feast. Practically everything Eleanor loved was there.

She paused and made a face. "Can you take the fish away?"

"It smells kind of… fishy."

The housekeeper frowned. "Really? Fishy?"

She picked up the plate and sniffed it. "I don’t smell anything."

Max didn’t notice any smell either.

"Just take it away," he said simply. "She’s pregnant. Her sense of smell is probably super sensitive right now."

Noticing the hint of paleness on Eleanor’s face, he reached out and soothed her. "There, it’s gone. Come eat."

"Or do you want me to feed you?"

As soon as the fish was gone, Eleanor felt a lot better. She never thought pregnancy would put her off fish.

"I’m fine. I can eat by myself."

She ate slowly, taking small bites. Max sat next to her, ready to help. Every time she lingered on a dish, he’d quietly put some on her plate, so she barely had to lift her chopsticks.

Eleanor suddenly laughed, making Max pause.
