From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 360

Jessie didn’t say a word. She bit back her tears and slipped quietly into her room.

Autumn couldn’t get her son’s tears from the night before out of her mind. The memory lingered like a sour taste, making her even more irritable. She started picking on Jessie whenever she could.

“What is this supposed to be? It tastes awful.”

Jessie had cooked for the first time, hoping to please her, but Autumn just shot her a frosty look. “Let the nanny do it over. I didn’t know you wouldn’t like it. It was my first try, that’s all.”

“There are some things you’ll never be able to do, so don’t force yourself. If you keep trying, you’re just making it hard for both of us.”

Autumn rolled her eyes and stormed back to her room.

Jessie tried to hold back her tears as a dull pain twisted in her stomach. She had to tough it out. She didn’t want to go to the hospital again. If she did, Autumn would just accuse her of faking it. Besides, going to the hospital all the time during pregnancy wasn’t a good look.

She stayed in bed for two days before she finally felt strong enough to get up. She wanted to call her friends, but scrolling through her contacts, she realized she didn’t have a single person she could really talk to. Katie hadn’t reached out in ages.

Meanwhile, things were heating up at the Clarkson family’s house.

“Grandpa, I am not going on a blind date. That’s so outdated.”

George gave Katie a look. “What’s so bad about just meeting someone? If you’d find a boyfriend on your own, we wouldn’t have to get involved.”

The Clarksons usually didn’t meddle unless someone seemed totally uninterested in dating. But Katie’s standards were sky-high. She turned her nose up at the rich boys in their circle and had even less patience for anyone outside it. Her pickiness made her tough to please, and she had a bit of an attitude on top of that. She was always comparing every guy she met to Max, her cousin. Out of a hundred men, barely one could hold a candle to him.

Max didn’t care about Katie’s love life, but Hunter came to him for help.

“Hunter, you want my wife to set Katie up?”

“Let’s skip that. You know what your daughter’s like. If it goes badly, she’ll just blame my wife.”

Eleanor pinched Max’s thigh to get him to stop talking.

“Hunter, I don’t really know any single guys, but Max has a buddy who’s still single, I think.”
