From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 9

No one in the family noticed when Eleanor left the group chat.

Honestly, the family chat was pretty dead anyway. Autumn was the only one who ever posted, and all she did was forward videos about her beloved granddaughter.

Peter had no clue that just yesterday afternoon, he’d approved a whole stack of resignation requests with one click—including Eleanor’s. When he walked into the office and saw her empty desk, he couldn’t help but let out a sarcastic laugh.

So, she was going to be stubborn again? Fine. He’d like to see how long she could last this time. If she wanted to disappear forever, that was her problem.

He was sure Eleanor would fold eventually, just like she always did. With that in mind, he went straight into the executive meeting, not bothering to give it another thought.

Jessie, the head of R&D, saw Eleanor’s email as soon as she got to the office. She frowned. Was Eleanor really planning to leave and take her patent with her?

Jessie glanced around the secretaries’ office but didn’t see Eleanor anywhere.

Leon walked over, polite as always. “Ms. Goff, are you looking for someone?”

She lifted her chin, not bothering to hide her attitude. “Where’s Eleanor?”

“Mr. Clarkson approved Ms. Rolland’s resignation yesterday. She finished the handover, so she’s not coming in anymore.”

“But I don’t think Mr. Clarkson actually realizes what happened.”

Leon explained that Peter had asked where Eleanor was earlier, but he hadn’t had the chance to answer before a call interrupted him.

Jessie narrowed her eyes and smirked to herself. So, quitting her job was just Eleanor’s way of playing hard to get.

“If Mr. Clarkson doesn’t ask, don’t bring it up. I’ll handle the patent situation myself.”

With that, Jessie went straight to Eleanor’s mother’s place.

At Juliana’s apartment.

“Ms. Goff, what a surprise. I wasn’t expecting you.”

“What does she have to be angry about?”

Jessie bit her lip, forcing her eyes to look watery. “Juliana, honestly, if Peter would just go talk to her, I’m sure she’d calm down.”

“But now she’s quit her job and is demanding patent rights from the company. I… I really don’t know what to do.”

Juliana’s head started to pound. She grabbed her phone and called Eleanor.

“Eleanor, where are you?”

“Mom, I’m busy.”

Juliana took a deep breath. “I don’t care how busy you are. You come home now.”

Eleanor stared at her phone after her mom hung up. She had no idea what had gotten into her mother today—it was like she’d swallowed something sharp. Still, in the end, she decided to head over to her little apartment.
