Goodbye My Arrogant Ex novel Chapter 126

The two of them were good friends to begin with, and there was really no need to let things become so tense. Letting Marguerite stay was nothing more than a small indulgence on his part.

In the end, he could only nod his agreement.

“All right, I’ll go along with it.”

“Then it's settled,” Marguerite replied with a smile. “I have a few other things to take care of today. Laura, please update Mr. Zade on the current status of your work, and you two can discuss the details together.”

With that, Marguerite gathered her things and left, intentionally giving Laura and Luke some space.

Laura knew perfectly well that Marguerite was trying to help her out. But she had also heard what Luke said earlier—he would have preferred Marguerite to stay. He had no particular interest in Laura; she was the one clinging to a hopeless wish.

She stole a glance at the man before her, a tangled mess of emotions twisting inside. She didn’t know why she felt so unsettled—after all, this had nothing to do with her, and she had no right to interfere.

Now that only the two of them remained in the room, Laura felt a wave of awkwardness wash over her. She just wanted to get out as quickly as possible.

“Mr. Zade, if there’s nothing else, I’ll get back to work. If you need anything related to the project, please feel free to come find me.”

She was flustered, eager to escape.

But as she stood up, it hit her—wasn’t this the office Luke had arranged for the two of them? Where was she supposed to go?

“Sorry, Mr. Zade, I just realized… Ms. Taylor’s not here, and I’m still getting used to this being my office,” Laura stammered, running a hand through her unruly hair.

Luke stood as well. “No need to be so nervous. I’m not going to bite.”
