Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 200

“I’m honestly curious about what’s really going on between them. Why did they wait until now to make this announcement?”

“The Taylors and the Murphys have been close for generations. Maybe that’s why their kids are getting engaged. But isn’t Leonard being a bit opportunistic? After all, that woman was left disabled for life because of him.”

By now, they should’ve grown used to this kind of gossip. They’d been bracing themselves for it for a while.

It was the main reason they’d discussed delaying the engagement. Even though the scandal had blown over, the internet never forgets. People still remembered what happened—and how the two were connected.

“I heard they’ve actually been together for ages; they just never went public about it.”

“Didn’t Ms. Taylor have a boyfriend before? I thought she had a huge falling out with her family over him. So is this engagement with Leonard just what happened after a failed relationship?”

“I heard Leonard’s always been in love with someone else. Maybe both of them just went through heartbreak and ended up together by chance.”

Marguerite caught every word of the conversation. What was supposed to be a joyful engagement had turned into a public spectacle.

She couldn’t help but wonder herself: Had Leonard always loved someone else? And if so, who was it? Why was he with her now?

“It doesn’t matter what they say. As long as we can get through this engagement party without any trouble, that’s all I care about. It’s just a formality, really. If it weren’t important to everyone else, I wouldn’t even mind skipping it.”

But Leonard cared deeply about this ceremony. He wanted to give the woman he loved a proper place in his life, and to let everyone know Marguerite was his fiancée.

“Just hang in there a little longer. It’ll all be over soon,” Mrs. Taylor said, her voice full of concern. No matter what had happened in the past, this was still a new beginning for her daughter.

“Go on, Mom. Don’t worry about me,” Marguerite said, then made her way to find Leonard.
