Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 213

Wilma finally let out a quiet sigh of relief, then spoke in her usual calm tone. “As long as she’s alright. Honestly, if all this chaos ended up causing something truly serious for Mrs. Murphy, it just wouldn’t be worth it.”

“Young Madam, maybe you’ve never seen Mrs. Murphy in her younger days,” Wilma continued. “She was a remarkably strong-willed woman. Who would’ve thought she’d end up in the hospital over something like this? I suppose age and her declining health just caught up with her.”

“In the past, she would never have let something like this happen. If there was trouble, she’d rush to the office herself and handle things head-on. Her ability to manage a crisis was impressive—she really deserves respect for that.”

Wilma’s eyes shone with admiration as she spoke about Mrs. Murphy. She herself was a capable woman, but it was clear she looked up to the older lady—after all, no one could run such a large company single-handedly without real skill.

Marguerite nodded. “You’re right, Grandma’s been worrying herself sick over us. If she hadn’t been so anxious about everything, she probably wouldn’t have ended up in the hospital.”

As she spoke, Marguerite’s voice was heavy with guilt. But there was nothing she could do—the damage was done, and none of them could turn back time.

Wilma tried to comfort her. “Young Madam, you really shouldn’t blame yourself. None of this was your fault, and you certainly never wanted any of it to happen.”

She set a bowl down in front of Marguerite. “I made you some soup. You haven’t really rested these past couple days at the hospital, and with all the stress of the engagement, you need to take care of yourself. Drink it while it’s hot.”

Wilma’s kindness was always sincere—she looked after the two of them as if they were her own family.

Apparently, there was an issue with some data—a mistake that really needed both Marguerite and Laura there to sort out. Luke couldn’t fix it himself; after all, Marguerite had always handled the patent data on her own.

“Alright, I’ll be there right away. Wait for me at the office,” Marguerite replied. She knew Luke wouldn’t have called unless it was urgent.

She needed to get to the office as quickly as possible to find out what went wrong with the project and fix it before things got worse. Marguerite had never been one to procrastinate; she believed problems should be solved the moment they arose—only then could she keep her partners satisfied.

Wilma looked at her with concern. “Young Madam, why don’t you eat something before you go? You haven’t looked well these past two days, and you haven’t had any proper rest either. I know work is important, but your health matters more.”
