Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 245

Leonard offered them a brief explanation, but he didn’t go into too much detail—after all, this really had nothing to do with them.

Still, everyone in the room was watching her with an odd, complicated look, as if they had already joined forces and come fully prepared for this confrontation.

“Mr. Murphy, look, it’s not that we don’t want to trust you. The company’s future direction and core values—those are things you should be considering. But you’re no longer part of the Murphy family. How can we be sure you’ll remain as dedicated to the company as before?”

“It’s not that we have anything personal against you. But you know as well as we do that you’ve attracted quite a bit of trouble lately. Ever since your engagement, the company’s suffered significant negative press, all due to your personal life. I’ve done a rough estimate—the losses aren’t small.”

“We’re all having to shoulder these losses together, and to make matters worse, some of our business partners have voiced serious concerns about you.”

“Mr. Murphy, this is a family business. Since you’re not part of the Murphy family anymore, maybe it’s time we reconsidered who should be CEO.”

The board members spoke one after another, barely giving him a chance to respond. Leonard could tell they’d rehearsed this, and their resentment over the Murphy family issue was impossible to miss. Had Aaron already gotten to them behind his back?

“Mr. Murphy, we’ll review the materials you’ve prepared,” one of them said, finally breaking the silence. “But our immediate concern is the recent losses. Since those were caused by your personal actions, I don’t think it’s fair for everyone else to bear the burden.”

Their tone had softened, though—it was a noticeable shift from just a few minutes earlier.

“I fully intend to resolve my own issues,” Leonard replied. “Since the initial crisis, I’ve been working on ways to cover the losses. But this isn’t something that can be fixed overnight. As for the project—I’ll move forward with it, but I’ll need everyone’s full cooperation.”
